Healthy Canucks lineup:

Sedin-Sedin-Burrows
Jensen-Kesler-Hansen
Raymond-Schroeder-Kassian
Sestito-Lapierre-Pinnizzotto

Booth gone for the season. This is pretty much our playoff lineup.

I don't think they separate Raymond - Hansen again. Those two are playing their best hockey together this season. If Schroeder is in the line-up then he'll be with those two.

That still looks terrible. Need a top 6 forward and a 3 rd line centre to even think about beating LA or Chicago.

Sedin - Sedin - Burrows
Higgins - Kesler - Kassian
Raymond - Schroeder - Hansen
Pinnizzotto - Lappierre - Weise

You were forgetting Higgins, we don't need Jensen right now and its better he stays down, also I still think we need a 3C.

Needs more Higgins.

I'd like to see

Sedin-Sedin-Kassian
Higgins-Kesler-Burrows
Raymond-Schroeder-Hansen
Pinnizotto-Lapierre-Weise
Sestito

Sedin-Sedin-Pinnzatto
Raymond-Schroeder-Hansen
Seisto-Schroeder-Weise

I would be all for getting gaborik, but like you said.. how could the trade work? What do we have that the rangers need?

we dont need Jensen? a little premature to write him off. I just read an article implying they know he could be called up but theyre making sure when hes called up, that he has a good chance to stick in the nhl for good. theyre just being extra sure. another 2 months down there and he could add something to our lineup. imo

I'm totally digging the idea floating around the trades board of Luongo for Grabovski with the Leafs retaining $1.5 million of Grabovski's contract. I'd prefer Roy but this is more practical and does a decent job addressing a need. Maybe do it in the offseason if we miss out on Roy or another free agent target.

If we're getting an impact player like Grabovski, I'd rather do it now than in the offseason. Also, Grabo long-term at 4 mil is much better than Roy as a rental, especially as whichever we might acquire would likely be put in a more defensive role, something that I believe Roy is inferior to Grabovski in.

I'd be wanting Roy only if you can extend him though. Hence why Grabovski is far more practical. Grabo has played tough minutes in Toronto and handled them well, so he could help alleviate some of that pressure from Kesler. Acquiring either would put Schroeder in a tough spot and I don't see a spot on the roster for him when the team's healthy.

Might mean having to move Schroeder++ for Iginla, Gaborik, etc.

Or keep him for now while Kesler's out, and try different variations of Kesler, Schroeder, or Grabovski at wing right before the playoffs and see what sticks.

I think that Schroeder could be that "playmaker" for Kesler

Kassasin/burrows Schroeder Kesler could be effective second line,
Raymond 3C Hansen
Higgins Lapiere Weise/Pinn/Sesito

MG focus on that 3C between Raymond and hansen

Extending Roy still costs the team Booth+Raymond in the process.

Any money brought in will eventually have to be money out.

Grabovski+ would be good if they could flip him for a 3m 3C, somewhere. 3m seems to be the magic number here. Higgins back at 2.5m, and they have to choose Booth/Raymond (I think they retain Booth personally). Which leaves about 3m~ to put towards a 3C. It's one of the reasons I think they were after Ott. He fits the cap scheme nicely.

Holy crap. That's 1st line money. Good agent. Want no part of him then.

As an aside: Forward lines next year maybe:

Sedin-Sedin-Burrows
Booth-Kesler-Kassian
Higgins-Goc-Hansen
Weise-Lapierre-Pinnizzotto
Sestito

Hamhuis-Bieksa
Edler-O'Byrne
Garrison-Tanev
Connauten

Yes, I'd do it too. Grabovski plays with a lot of heart, and is a 50pt guy.

Overpaid, yes. But the market for Lou just isn't that great, and we're in a jam.

If we could get Toronto to take some salary, all the better.

Yes, after all the months of bickering with Leafs fans (and amongst ourselves), it's almost like the clouds have parted...

I agree. Gillis seems to be pushing pretty hard. If I were a betting man, I'd bet on at least one Canucks move in the next 2 weeks.

wonder what it would cost to get Vermette onto the Canucks............how did we fail to trade for him last deadline

Raymond Vermette Hansen could be effective third line

I said this earlier but if the Leafs kept a sizable amount of Grabovski's contract. I would be willing to take less in a goaltender trade. Get Grabs down to $3.5-4M and he would be fantastic on the third line; able to handle the defensive roles and allow Kesler to focus on offense.

Sedin - Sedin - Burrows
Higgins - Kesler - Kassian
Raymond - Grabovski - Hansen
Pinnizotto - Lapierre - Weise
Sestito

I believe Vermette went for a 2nd and 4th and Gillis traded a 4th for Pahlsson.. Canucks used their 2nd on an overage scrappy lappy type Still think they should've gone for Carter though.

If they choose Raymond over Booth I think they'd be okay with Grabo at $4M. I have no idea what Raymond would command on the open market, but based on the character he's exhibited over his career in Vancouver I'm confident he'd take a paycut to stay here.
