Not really the best use of a Galchenyuk IMO.
You said last 7, I'm showing you last 10. The difference wouldn't be that great as he's stuck with gally for most part.

As for galchenyuk, he needs to start somewhere and I have no issue with it.

Galchenyuk is the best thing that happened to Eller in terms of offensive help with the Habs outside of his stints centering Kostitsyn.

Was at the Bell Center for the game and I was watching DD the whole game. He is playing like crap, already floating, Habs will regret that contract, he hasn't done anything since he signed that 4 year deal.

Let me be the first to say I would not be surprised if he is bought out this summer.

Yes and he will be sent back in the AHL... We heard that one already. You're a funny guy.

It was not DD's best game but you don't make the decision to buy out a player one week after giving him a 4 years contract, based only on one game. Sometimes it seems like some of you guys have been following hockey for a few weeks only.

It's true. He was putrid tonight. Like not even moderately decent and involved in both GA. That said, he's come up big in the past and I'm sure he will in the next few games.

Lol...way to jump the gun so fast

I'm not a fan of this deal either but lets give him at least the rest of this season and then the next

Nobody is dreaming any such thing.

In a year or a year and a half, Desharnais will be centering our third line in terms of minutes played. And he will be one of the most productive 3rd line C in the league, around 50 points per year, and paid as such, about 10% over the league average for the 20 starters per night.

Desharnais won't be moved. he is a local boy, we made a commitment to him, he hustles and does his best, and he is only expected to be a complementary player, and a good one at that.

When our injured guys are back:
Plekanec-Gionta-Bourque
Desharnais-Ryder-Pacioretty
Eller-Gallagher-Galchenyuk
Prust-Armstrong-Moen

Bashing, bashing, bashing......

Well, i've been saying the same thing for the last couple of weeks now.....and since then, DD's has proven me right time and time again, and yet again is yesterday's game.

Habs got scored 42 times at Even Strenght, DD on the ice for 22 of them.
And h'es not playing 25 minutes a games like a D...only 17 minutes a games.

Of course, he's not "responsable" for all these goals.....but an offensive center should got a good puck possession and play in the offensive zone.....something is wrong here:

1- Desharnais = 22 goals
2- Markov = 21 goals
3- Bouillon = 18 goals
4- Pacioretty and Gorges= 17 goals
5- Emelin = 16 goals

Do you think this is normal???
Just for a reference, Plekanec is at 14 goals, Lars Eller only 9 goals.

Of course it doesn't matter if he put up points like crazy......but it's not the case.

1 points in 22 games on the PP on the first wave is also embarassing considering his 22 goals against at even strenght.

This ain't bashing....this is problem

Are you serious?

It's hard to imagine a single NHL GM would pick DD over either Eller or Galchenyuk.

I think they would both be on any roster in the league right now.

No, he wasn't that bad.....wasn't good at all (The complete line), but they put up massive production so it was kind of okay!

What has changed? The system

Martin is more of a wait for the opponent to make mistake, don't go too far in the offensive zone with one passive forechecker on the puck

Therrien is more "in your face", deep aggressive forecheck with 2 forwards on the puck, and back the F up if you miss. This is where DD isn't good. He got heart, he forecheck hard but lost most of his battle and then get behind the play and not fast enough to get back to help is D.

@HabsWatch: Eller now tied with Desharnais at 16 points... with 52 fewer ES mins, 66 fewer PP mins and 136 fewer O zone faceoffs #Habs

And without playing with the team's best forward. Put Eller where he belongs.

One option for next week, when the missing forwards are back.

Plekanec-Gionta-Eller
Galchenyuk-Gallagher-Pacioretty
Desharnais-Ryder-Bourque

Second option:
Plekanec-Gionta-Bourque
Galchenyuk-Gallagher-Eller
Desharnais-Ryder-Pacioretty

Desharnais can gain some strength but he will never be big. Therefore, he will lose puck battles against bigger opponents. That's a given. Every time he succeeds in retrieving the puck is a plus. Defensively, he can do much more and I don't understand why no one has taken the time to work with him on that aspect of his game. I'm assuming no one ever did because David is a very intelligent player and if he can figure it out in the offensive zone, he can figure it out on defense.

Desharnais' strength is offense. He's always dangerous in the offensive zone and creates many scoring chances. Great puck possession, great vision, great passing plays but most importantly, he is able to perceive what's coming. Since he's got such a great offensive mind, he should be able to transfer this anticipation into defense awareness.

If he could improve his defense, then his lack of size wouldn't matter as much and Montreal would benefit from this signing. A 6'2", 200lbs David Desharnais with good defense would be worth at least twice as much. A 5'7", 175lbs with decent defense and such great offensive abilities would be worth every penny of his salary.

Terrible defensively last night, pathetic effort from DD last night. Hopefully he bounces back in the next week cause it's 4 big games coming up
