Absolutely love the kid!

He is currently leading the team in even-strength scoring with 16 points in 25 games. To give more perspective to that number, here are a few other players in the league:

16 points: Perry, Zetterberg, Tavares, Lecavalier
15 points: Neal, Ribeiro, Elias, Pominville, Carter, Iginla, J. Staal, Lucic, Horton
14 points: Backstrom
13 points: M. Koivu

The fact that he has played fewer games that anyone on the list makes it even more impressing!

He is also currently on a pace towards 56 points in 82 games, not many rookies in recent years can match that pace.

Gallagher's getting regular PP time...not sure why you are bringing this up.

IMO was by far and away our best player in the game overall yesterday. LOVE his sense of competition. Never gives up and you just know he wants it more than anyone on the ice.

He's a winner and a good one.

He is so dangerous around the net. It's crazy to see him behind the net, and charge into the crease no matter who is there... it almost always creates rebounds and scoring opportunities. Awesome!

Lately yes, possibly due to injuries. Yet he's still 10th on the team for PP time overall. (7th for forwards).

I would say the more PP time for Gallagher the better. Hopefully he doesn't go back to getting almost no PP time once injuries clear up.

It's not because of injuries, but rather because of lines. Ever since he has been put on the top line, he's been playing with them on the Powerplay.

Injuries led him to being placed on the top line, no?

Either way, before injuries hit he wasn't seeing any PP time.

No. Even when Bourque and Cole were here, before his concussion, he got put on a line with Pacioretty and Desharnais. Cole was down on the 3rd line with Prust and Galchenyuk if I remember correctly.

He had almost no PP time before injuries...so I think it's safe to say he ended up getting ice time due to others going down.

Perhaps it's a coincidence, but I don't think it is.

It really is. He drives to the net better than anyone I have seen in a long time.

Still, the point was, he was not put on the top line only because of injuries. He actually was put there to replace Cole at some point. Him and Cole just changed their roles.

Nobody ever mentionned anything about the PP...

Actually, before you hoped into the conversation, that was exactly what we were talking about.

The point is, he wasn't getting PP time pre-injuries, and hopefully he will continue to get them post-injuries.

Gallagher's really good at playing the Hero. I remember when he was playing for Canada in the World Juniors and they were losing 6-1 against the Russians, he single-handedly put the team on his back and dragged them back into the game, much like last night.

We've got a good one here, folks.

He's the straw that stirs the drink out there. He's already the heart of the Habs even strength offense in my opinion.

My bad then... I read your comment and you were talking about his spot on the "top-line". Thought it was about ES in general.

Cheers.

That being said, his ES play is among the best in the entire NHL, so even if he does lose a little PP time once we get healthy, he'll probably still produce.

Gally is very clever on his skates last night he was being double teamed deep and deftly slipped both pursuers to make a scoring chance. Seems he can pivot and accelerate so well due his size. Clearly the Habs need to get smaller!

After the goal there was a moment Patches hugging Gally and DD -- looked like a proud father

Had a social occasion to go to last night, but they had a TV on briefly and one of the few bits of the game I saw was an amazing display of slippery determination by Gallagher. I'm certainly not comparing his overall game to Gretzky's, but when he completely fooled a pair of defenders to set up Patches in the slot for a goal, I couldn't help but be reminded me of the Great One. What a shift and what a play!

This guy continues to surprise.

First PP unit should be 11-81-27-79-76 and i wish they could play together also all the time.
