Ian White to Edmonton

Healthy Scratch who wants to play.

Edmonton needs two top four defenders, I think he's a realistic target.
Couldn't cost that much.

Size isn't big at 5'10" but plays solid.

What would it take?

Do you honestly believe he will be in the Oilers top4, espesially for a team that relies on its D for it's size and grit.

Ian White Is'nt going any where not with Quincey out for the rest of the year, He wont be available now until free agency In July. Unless Detroit get's anther Defenseman In return.

Sure looks that way cause we all know the over/under on Carlo's return is about 2 games before he's re-injured again too.

If the Oilers acquired him then Eberle would lose his favorite dangle victim... on the basis of that alone... we say no

Yep as of right now Carlo Is out Indefinetly and I really dont see him being back for the rest of the year. And White Is still better then Huskins right now so that leaves very little wiggle room, The only way I see White moving at the trade deadline Is If we get another D-Man at the trade deadline and that's always possible.

He could definitely help your team, but unfortunately he's probably not available because of Quincey's injury.

The Oil need to get bigger, tougher d-men. We also need top pair d-men, not depth guys. He`s of no interest to us.

EDM is an unlikely destination for a rental. Buyers selling to sellers. However, White could be a part of a Smid package, although I imagine EDM would be looking for something longer lasting than White (i.e. Kindl).

How about Smid for a second, Ian White and Landon Ferraro?

Smid is also a rental. While I do think what you offered is pretty close to fair value for a signed smid. Detroit is more than a ladislav smid away from contending. So I don't see them giving up any high picks or decent prospects unless they know they can resign him.

If Smid was signed, that package might get you his autograph.

Edmonton is finished rebuilding. I'm sure they'd rather make a push for the playoffs(2 points out) then sell off for a downgrade, a mid/late second and a very mediocre prospect

A bag of pucks. and Detroit would still win the trade.

I would be ecstatic if Holland caught a 2nd/3rd rounder for Ian White.

we had this thread a few weeks ago and I believe the flaw in the idea can be found in the question I asked then and I will now

"How does someone, who is healthy scratch suddenly become a top 4 d-man?" Even on a bad team.

Oilers D- Schultz, Schultz, smid, Fistric, Petry--- Is White Better then any of them? IMO no. Smid and Fistric add a touighness to the oiler backline. Petry and J schultz add movement and Nick Schultz is a steady vet that adds more then White would.

White is a journey man D that most teams already have and would not add to the oilers blueline, he has been in and out of the wings line up for a reason

and the oilers already have enough soon to be UFA on the back end

White has this strange upside. He's a bit of an enigma. He can play great in long stretches but then he goes in these horrible stretches. He's a sulker. He's a good player but he seems to always end up in the doghouse.

Zidlicky was a healthy scratch a lot last year too. There's guys that just need change. A guy like Whitney needs a change. The problem with White, is he's needed multiple changes.
