Once Komisarek realized he'll never be able to play like a 4.5 million defenseman, he settled down and played fine. Following his current contract, once he signs with a team for 1 million he'll be an effective player again.

Sucks, but good for him for waiving it. Someone will take a chance, or he will at least get to play.

Good person.

He makes his money still and he gets to play to prove he can. Seems win win to me.

I think he ends up somewhere in the West...would fit his style better, no?

If it weren't for another year at that salary, (i know i'm gonna get blasted for this, ha) I could see the Kings taking a flyer on him as a stand-in target dummy for Greene.

I agree. I'm expecting the leafs to buyout Komi and for him to sign a cheap contract elsewhere this summer.

Burke was a wizard with RFAs.

Well the band is finally broken up, LACK is gone. Here's hoping they all regroup on the Habs or something. They have Armstrong already, Komi can come back to where he started, Lombardi is from Montreal, come onnnn

Nonis has really cleaned up the mess Burke left, kudos to him. Kudos to Komi for waiving too he honestly is a real good dude, and I still hope that one day he finally knocks out Lucic. Good luck Mike.

He's junk. He'll make the worst team in the league worse. He won't get claimed

It is a shame that Komisarek has declined so significantly after that fight with Lucic. He should have stuck to playing defence, and let someone who can fight do the fighting. He had such a promising career, and was such a terrific person while in Montreal. I only have good things to say about the man, to bad he failed so badly as a player.

I am not happy to see him waived, but completely understand why. Good luck to a very nice and decent person.

He had a steal in Beauchemin's contract though...only 3.8M and then when he couldn't get it going we got Lupul and Gardiner.

i think he should be given credit for just wanting to play at any cost. hes saying if it makes it better for everyone for him to leave he'll chance going anywhere on waivers, or play himself into contention for a trade where TO eats some contract.

i think teams know TO will eat some of it, so he clears and then gets traded in the next few weeks so TO has to take a contract back.

Komisarek has a great personality but his play on the ice wasn't as much.
I'm pretty sure that when Gardiner got called up, he went to Nonis and said that he'll waive his NMC as long as he gets to play somewhere. Likely just got fed up with sitting as a healthy scratch...

Hard to attract talent to a crappy team

Will echo the "Burke struck out majorly on the vast majority of July 1st UFA type contracts that he gave out" sentiment. Has built up the Leafs nicely otherwise (draft, trade, RFA contracts), though.
