His rather pedestrian .904 SVP this year certainly doens't make me want to overlook his contract term.

With Komi on waivers I think Nonis is up to something here. The GMs are meeting today in Toronto and I get the feeling we might see more movement today/tomorrow. I know one team (can't remember which) was reported to have flown their whole scouting staff to Toronto for these meetings today.
I think that team was Vancouver.

No matter what happens, the Leafs 1st rounder isn't going anywhere. Nonis isn't stupid enough to repeat the same mistakes of the past decade.

Reimer's .917 SVP is far better than Luongos this year... just an FYI.

We might have a few options in net this summer...Mike Smith might be available, St Louis needs to rid themselves of a tender, Backstrom is a pending UFA, Tim Thomas as well I believe... lots of options.
Elliott isn't even a consideration in my eyes. I'd take Reimer or Scrivens over him.

Thomas is a wing nut. Who knows what he'll do.

Backstrom and Smith are definitely options. Depends on how much term they'd want to come to Toronto.

I'd be fine throwing in Scrivens in along with Liles to get Hillier. I'd rather Scrivens going to Anahiem instead of Reimer as I still believe Reimer is the better of the two. If Hillier faulters then we walk away from him at the end of the year and if he thrives we get first crack at reinking him.

I don't see Vancouver doing this.
Check out the trade thread on the main board. Most Vancouver posters are not shying away from this basic deal or very similar ones with different moving parts. They need a #2 centre badly right now.

I'm starting to think more and more that Liles will actually remain with us past the deadline.

Carlyle has been playing him recently about 20 minutes a game and Toronto needs puck movement.

Komisarek is gone. Kostka and Holzer got some exposure to the big leagues but the holes in their games became more and more apparent as the season went on.

Getzlaf and Perry also just inked so we don't have the top UFA options that Nonis would have been trying to create extra cap room by trading Liles for.

Still some decent forwards available.

Ribeiro, Semin, Elias, Boyes, Ryder, Koivu, Dupuis, Brunner, Iginla, Clarkson, Cullen, Jagr, Prospal, Selanne, Alfie, Bickell, Stalberg, Horotn, Letestue, Bozak, Roy, MacA, Raymond, Cookie, Antropov, Flippula, Fehr, Sullivan, Higgins, Morrow, McDoanld, Torres, Hejduk, Penner

From that group wouldn't mind grabbing Bickell and Chipchura.

McClement/Komarov/Bickell/Chipchura/McLaren/Kulemin would be a solid bottom six.

Bickell - McClement - Kulemin
McLaren - Chipchura - Komarov

playing them behind our current top six of

JvR - Bozak - Kessel
Frattin - Kadri - Lupul

Spares... MacA [valuable spare], Grabovski, Orr

Respectfully disagreed. I think he's gone, along with at least one other D. If Nonis intends on leveraging MLSE's deep pockets and our cap space either now or this summer, then he'll need the cap space.

No. Komi still counts as a roster player - he'd have to get picked off waivers to open up a spot.

Hockey Central @ noon is speculating that Kipper will be moved to Toronto for Scrivens/Reimer + 1st, and will sign a 2 year extension with the Leafs ($5 million range).

They also mentioned that Darryl Sutter is barking HARD for LA to acquire Iginla, but it will cost them.

Yikes... not sure how I feel about that, unless Nonis has a plan to reacquire a 1st.

Seems like it was just idle speculation .... can't see us doing it. I'd be all for it if it was for our 2nd....

Agree with that 100%. I don't have interest in Kipper anyone unless it comes super duper cheap.

They weren't saying it was a rumor, more like Kipper saying "This is what I would do". Just garbage basically.

I think Liles their is a good chance Liles will be moved in the off-season instead.

But looking at our D group it looks like we've got Phaneuf, Gunnarson, Fraser, Franson and Gardiner as locks for the rest of the season.

Then Carlyle has a choice of Liles, Holzer and Kostka. Liles is by far the best of those 3 and we need him for our own playoff push.

Trade Kostka for whatever late round pick we can get.

Maybe Kypreos is still feeling the effects of post concussion syndrome.

it was speculation on their part

I was one of Kippers biggest fans and he was amazing in his pride but not sure his style is really sustainable.....though Hasek did it

I think something is up too and we may be adding a player, to fill his spot, nothing has been said about calling up a player, from the AHL to fill it.
