I feel bad for any players that have to play on a team with Ron Wilson as head coach!

Wilson thinks good D is having your defense men pinch every time in the O zone and pray your goalie makes the stop on the resulting 2 on 1!

If in decent you mean he lost his job to 3 AHL defencemen and was lower on the totem poll then Liles and Gardiner as replacements then yes he was a decent 9th option on defense this season..

There has been a ton of money spent during the past 4 years that amounted to absolutely jack squat. No wonder the board wanted a change. Good on Nonis for getting rid of the dead weight, he seems to be making all the right moves so far.

Worst CorsiOn ratings on the Leafs this season:

Holzer -27.49 now in the AHL
Komisarek -26.66 now on waivers
McClement -25.62 looks bad but faces the toughest opposition on the team
Kulemon -17.45 still bad but is facing tough minutes against the opponents best corsi players
MCLAREN -17.15 this is the next guy who should go if there's a better option. His quality of competition isn't that great and the Leafs are still in their own end more then in the oppositions when he's on the ice.

I hope Komisarek gets to play in the NHL with another team soon. Just a classy guy and deserves the best.

Sucks when guys like him don't work out cause they are complete team men.

Quote:
After spending all but four games watching the Toronto Maple Leafs play from the press box, veteran defenceman Mike Komisarek is on waivers, one step closer to either being picked up by another team, or moving to the American Hockey League.

Komisarek, 31, has a no-movement clause in his contract, and a source close to the move said the player and the team reached an agreement to waive that clause. Komisarek is on the usual 24-hour waiver period.

If he goes unclaimed, it is believed he will report to the Marlies, Toronto’s AHL affiliate.

Komisarek is in the fourth year of a five-year contract with the Leafs. He carries a cap hit of US$4.5-million. The NHL trade deadline is April 3, but it is not believed there was much interest in acquiring him at that price.

Komisarek skated with the Leafs in their pre-game skate on Wednesday, the same day the team recalled 22-year-old defenceman Jake Gardiner from the Marlies. The Leafs are in the middle of a five-game winless skid, and host the Tampa Bay Lightning on Wednesday night.

Komisarek is a good team guy and lots have commented on his positive dressing room presence.

Good Luck Mike!

Its funny how Wilson was about to destroy the soul of so many hockey players in his short time here.

Komisarek lost his confidence as a Leaf and that really did him in. I still think he can be a good player and I hope he will go prove everyone wrong.

Good luck to him. So who will claim him? Cap hit is at $4.5m but actual salary is $3.5m. Would suit one of the budgets team even do $3.5m for a bottom 4 defender is a bit much.

Don't mind him helping keep Reilly away from idiots in the AHL. Its only money and only a grand or so of it is mine.

Good citizen. never complained publicly. Not his fault Leafs were dumb enough to give him all that cash. Good luck to him where ever he winds up.

When Holzer is recalled to replace Komisarek on the roster that $900k saving is re-utilized on a better and a younger player.

So this is a great move for the Leafs.

Not really.

Holzer is at the best a bottom pairing stay at home shut down defensemen, komisarek has more talent to be in the second pairing.

I personally believe that the predators might pick him up. I believe Hall Gill is injured.

I feel bad for him. I think I'm going to a Marlies game with a nice poster showing support.

Can't believe people feel sorry for komi.

to be honest i wouldn't mind seeing a rielly-komisarek pairing, i dont know the marlies D situation but would be nice to see Komi show him the ropes, Komi was a top pick too.

The guy not the contract. He went for the money, it's not his fault Burke offered him that salary. He's been a trooper and rolled with the punches his entire tenure, and for that I applaud him.

holzer was never signed to be a top pair defenseman ....he is a great 5-6-7 guy .. nonis is doing what MSLE is directing him to do ....
hes a puppet ,he knew exactly what he was drawing up when these crappy contracts were offered ,unless he went and told the new owners he fought against every lousy contract, nonis is doing what hes told to do to try save face in hockey
the leafs are vastly overated and even their prospect pool isnt as great as we all hope

If I got offered 4.5 million a year over 4 years to play water polo, I would take it, and if a team offered me more money, well I'd take that offer instead.

I've never played water polo in my life.
