Like it or not those things affect people tremendously. Both physically and mentally. Look at Brian Burke. His whole demeanour, aura of confidence is completely gone and it all started with his son's tragedy.

That's kind of like if I said "referring to WhiskeySeven the poster and not WhiskeySeven the person, I think he's moronic, inept and useless" and expecting WS not to take offense. It's just a roundabout way of calling him moronic, inept, and useless*.

(*which I don't really think so please don't report my post )

I think you'd make an inept and useless esthetician but that doesn't mean I don't think you're swell.

Except there are rules on HF that state that insulting members of the forum is illegal and punishable by infraction - it's what keeps Eklund from getting shredded every time. Also, I'm not a public figure so it's not the same.

Gainey's moves as a GM were moronic and lacked vision. He was useless toward the end of his tenure and it set the organization back some years. We lost a lot of good, hometown talent because of him and his stupid slug coach.

edit: Therefore, he was a ****ing terrible GM and I'm ashamed of supporting him.

I clearly haven't expressed myself on their personal tragedies because it's none of my business. I'm a Habs fan and as GM, Gainey bears the responsibility of being the general manager until he's not - and as it were, he was a damn awful one.

Gauthier gets SO much blame for Gainey's malignant acquisitions, and then Gainey's absolved because of a personal situation?

It's on Boivin, Uncle George and Sideshow Bob Gainey. They decided to keep Gainey as GM, they decided the state of the franchise is in good hands with him around, they decided that we're best served with him and look where it got us.

And the man had the gall to retire his own number during his GMing tenure - where have you EVER heard of that before? No wonder most other fanbases laugh at our superiority complex, our own GM retired his own number. Deserving or not, he could've friggin waited, seeing how he had no trouble abandoning ship 8 months after hamstringing the organization to five years of the Smurfs Gettin' Turfed Show.

Eller for Ladd was on another board, any thoughts on that?

Ladd is pretty expensive (in comparison to Eller), so we'd have to make another deal to shed some salary. Furthermore, Ladd is Winnipeg's captain, one of their main scorers, their captain and a heart and soul type player (well, he can be).

Doubt Winnipeg even considers this

Ladd is great but I don't think anybody can really see where Eller's ceiling is.

Don't see the point in trading him either. Why are we so allergic to the idea of having two big young, skilled centers?

I'm guess people are thinking eller is gone with the dd resigning, I guess that's why his name is coming up in the trade rumors, that and MB said he got the most calls on eller in the offseason

I don't think so. I think it means that we're going to be patient with Galchenyuk. DD can always switch to the wing. Just gives us options.

Agreed. I would only consider trading Eller for a similar age impact player that fills a need on the NHL roster. By definition, that would be an overpayment.

Big positive about Vanek is that we don't have a pure goal scorer and he's as close to that as you're gonna get. For all their successes, Habs really has had trouble scoring this year.

Bobby Mac.

He'll confirm trades, or break soon-to-be trades. No one else is close.

If Pleks is traded, I hope everyone is cool with our GA avg. skyrocketing. We're already at almost 3.5 goals/game. Makes no sense to trade Pleky, Eller or really anybody given that we are doing very well with this lineup while missing some key players. Eventually if Pleks becomes a Bergeron type player (can be 3rd line, can be 1st), then just let him be there shutting down the opposition while Eller and Chucky (and some combination of DD) handle the heavy scoring. Last I checked, Pleks was leading in goals.

I'd be willing to deal our 1st, 2nd, Leblanc and another prospect for Vanek.

Similar to the return Columbus got for Nash. Of course, I don't know Vanek's contract situation beyond this year.
