It was not a good 1st period for Gallagher's line but they looked better in the 2nd and 3rd. Gallagher's relentless style of play is a driving force for this line.

Hail to the badger!

Ray Ferraro compared him to Theo Fleury in last nights broadcast. If a former NHLer says that about a kid in his first NHL season, that is lofty praise and we are very lucky to have this guy.

I doubt Gallagher cares, if he wants the nickname he'll take it.

I kind of like "little ball of hate" that the team has given him. Especially how enthusiastic and smiley he is. Though he does get on opponents nerves I guess.

Gallagher fits honey badger so much better than Marchand. Plus if we call him that it'll annoy Bs fans so much haha. I love his awareness on the ice and he uses his agility so well. He starts and stops so quickly and it lets him shake off defenders.

The kid has everything. Skating, shot, IQ, hands, grit, even strength. I have also noticed he is doing a better job of protecting himself. He's being elusive with the puck, and positioning himself well without it. He obviously is still going to the net, but I think he's being less reckless now than before, without losing effectiveness. Can't wait for the playoffs.

Yeah it definitely has a ring to it, Honey Badger Gallagher. "Honey Badger" Marchand, on the other hand, is a terrible nickname. Plus he already has "little ball of hate". Can't claim all the nicknames to himself... ******* Marchand

Marchand has scoring talent and similar tenaciousness, but he plays the game in an outwardly obnoxious, smug, disrespectful style. Bruins fans will take his production, obviously, but they're embarrassed at his behaviour. Gallagher, on the other hand, is a happy, enthusiastic kid. Yeah, he gets in people's faces, but it's always to get the puck and never intentionally dirty. No attitude with this kid. He's a Golden Retriever - "C'mon Brendan, get the puck! Attaboy!"

Super dorky, but wolverines and honey badgers are of the same family, Mustelinae.

Which brings me to Desharnais. I think he's the weasel of the line.

That's too much talent on one unit... it wouldn't be fair for the rest of the league.

Not the first time he's made that comparison but he just means in terms of size and tenaciousness, not actual skills.
Theo is a Gold Medal Olympian that has played about 1150 NHL games (including POs) and has just over a ppg average.

You can't make this comparison in terms of skills yet.
