Not that I'm aware of. Supposedly 20-25 teams are interested, which isn't surprising. The dude is huge and has decent offensive upside.

One would expect a Pronman to be huge.

If Grabovski is on the outs in Toronto I'd think we should be on it, especially if Kulemin can be brought in as well. Better long term C solution than Ribeiro at a 6x5 contract I'd think, especially if he evolves more defensively. Kulemin would be the perfect utility winger to put with Ovechkin or Kuznetsov or whoever.

Sorry, Pronman is the author of the article. Sustr is the giant defenseman.

In terms of raw size maybe but Sustr is a righty.

If they have the inside track on anyone it would be defenseman Nate Schmidt since he was at their development camp last summer but only a slight advantage.

Yeah it was more a joke, since the scouting report said he was huge but not all that physical I don't really know much about this year's NCAA UFA class, other than that people seem to think it's decidedly average.

Grabovski would be a good get if Nonis undervalues him as much as Carlyle does.

He's a 5 million dollar player all things considered so it's not bad at all. Whoever we sign as a 2C we'd have to overpay more. His defensive game is getting very good as well so we could use him in a Bergeron-lite role.

Getting rid of Schultz and Ward, and letting all UFAs except Fehr walk:

CAPGEEK.COM USER GENERATED ROSTER
My Custom Lineup
FORWARDS
Brooks Laich ($4.500m) / Nicklas Backstrom ($6.700m) / Alex Ovechkin ($9.538m)

Eric Fehr ($1.000m) / Mathieu Perreault ($1.050m) / Tom Wilson ($1.325m)
Jason Chimera ($1.750m) / Jay Beagle ($0.900m) / Matt Hendricks ($1.000m)
Filip Forsberg ($1.492m) / Mattias Sjogren ($1.000m) /
DEFENSEMEN
Karl Alzner ($2.500m) / Mike Green ($6.083m)
Ladislav Smid ($4.000m) / Dmitry Orlov ($0.900m)
John Erskine ($1.963m) / John Carlson ($3.967m)
Tomas Kundratek ($1.250m) / Steven Oleksy ($0.542m)
GOALTENDERS
Braden Holtby ($1.850m)
Dan Ellis ($1.000m)
------
CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter)
(these totals are compiled with the bonus cushion)
SALARY CAP: $64,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $63,315,962; BONUSES: $1,260,000
CAP SPACE (24-man roster): $2,244,038

Note that assuming I'm not horribly far off on contracts, only one of Schultz or Ward actually has to go. Also note that the lines are not set, it's just the list of players.

MoJo gets way less than 3, Alzner gets more than 2.5 (but taken together they cancel out so it doesn't matter).

Smid will be the best Dman on the market probably, so I could see him getting more maybe.

almost no chance we can afford to keep Ribero with those cap figures

What do you guys think Johansson'll get? Who's his comparable? Duchene? And yeah, Smid could easily be too low. Anyway I mostly wanted to see what could actually be put together for next year.

Johansson is as comparable to Duchene as Schultz is to Alzner.

Even if you think he's good, you would have to be bat**** insane to give him anything over $2mil.

I bet Johansson accepts his QO, which is $850,500, I believe

I could see higher than his QO. As bad as he's been, he has a season of production under his belt.

Not 2+ mil worth of production, mind you. And the middle class is going to get squeezed in the new cap environment...

Laich is not a long-term solution for 1LW. He's just not that good.

He put up 53, 59, and 48 points in a similar role before. He's fine for it if Ovechkin gets firing again..

By similar role you mean playing a complimentary role on one of the league's best PP units, right?
