Your right it would shore up our d nicely. But wait and get him in the offseason as a UFA

If his salary were like 1.5m, I'd give him a go.

I would like Komi on Oilers but his contract may cost us a better player next season. Gagner, Paajarvi, Jones, Smid, Whitney, Fistric, Harti and Petrell are all up for new contracts with only 20M to spend.

Following the 2010-2011 season Campoli was awarded $2.5 million in a arbitration case only to see Chicago and GM Stan Bowman walk away. Montreal signed him late that summer to a 1-year $1.75 million deal.

He spent the majority of his time playing with Brian Campbell in Chicago who along with Filip Kuba are currently available in Florida.

Fuel to the Campbell fire. Strickland says he's available.

Do reentry waivers still exist in the new CBA? If we could pick him up for half price I would consider that.

dont think they do...
If Katz wants to open his wallet then we can take a chance on Komi.. Pick him up.. see how he does... If his contract stops us from re-signing a Fistric or Petrell (someone the mangement feels is more important) then buy him out.

No but Toronto could retain salary/cap hit in any trade.

There's a thread on the Trade Rumors board that says Hockey Central @ noon is speculating the Leafs want to get Miikka Kiprusoff from the Flames and sign him to an extension of 2 years at $5 million per. The rumor also states they would give Calgary their 1st rounder and one of Scrivens or Reimer. WTH? Has pot been legalized in Ontario? I hope this is just speculation!

It was. They were just making unfounded trade proposal on what it might cost the leafs. Not a rumor just brainstorming.

I think anyone planning on Kiprusoff playing for them next year (including Calgary) needs to extend his contract this offseason.

He's only set to make $1.5M in salary next year and it doesn't look like the Flames are going to be contenders anytime soon. If he doesn't get traded or get a contract extension, I could very well see him retire instead of playing a full season at that low a rate, especially with the kind of workload they put on him each year.

If all we can get for Whitney is a second rounder, like Willis is suggesting, I say we just keep him for a possible playoff run. Gregor is right when he says that next to Schultz, nobody on the Oilers D is a point producer like Whitney.

It's too bad Brian Campbell's cap hit is so high. He is exactly the type of puck mover we need. Our PP would be dynamite with him on it.

Well, teams can retain part of the players salary that they're trading away if they want to do a deal bad enough.

He's making over 7 million a year with 4 years left(I think). Of course he's available

Jones to LA for Jordan Nolan. Nolan has been sitting. LA should be reloading for another run.

Get bigger one trade at a time

The fact he is Ted Nolan's son and that scares me enough

With the Smid contract a potential issue, I wonder if Tambellini does take a flyer on Komisarek just as insurance in case he doesn't resign him. It's a downgrade I know.

Or we could just pay Smid the same money that Komisarek is scheduled to get next year(4.5 million). I think he signed for 3.5-4 million.

Ditto

I keep thinking a line of Nolan-Boyle-Brown would be great for a 4th line

Wouldn't mind him at all, but would rather keep Jones. If he could be had for another piece...
