Management wants him up, Torts wants him in the A? IDK what's up, but it is weird that Torts just said yesterday that he doesn't want to rush him.

Easy for Torts to say after a win.

If the Rangers kept losing, Kreider would have been called up quicker than he would have wanted.

maybe upper management wants him up because of his ability to score, but Torts doesnt because he wasnt working as hard as he wanted him to, dunno just a hunch.

So true.
Disagree...

Torts has no problem with mistakes. Miller makes plenty of them as has been talked about by Torts himself.

It's the fact that Kreider was just skating around and doing nothing for a better part of his first stint.

I'm glad that Krieder's back.
The only thing that concerns me is the lack of a real tough guy somewhere in the active lineup. It was sad last night watching Boyle being involved in some pushing and shoving. He doesn't intimidate anyone.
I just like having that presence on the bench in case things get out of control. Haley wasn't hurting them. Bench Pyatt, he's another big slow guy that plays with no edge.

he's lost defensively..

torts demands a two way game everyone, even from his stars.. and kreider hasn't been comfortable in the defensive side of the game or away from the puck in terms of positioning.. thats where he's made mistakes and the reasons hes benched.. IMO i think his work ethic isn't where it needs to be.. I think (alot ofyou guys stated it already) torts tell him to watch hags, bc he uses his speed to forecheck and create turnovers.. is effort isn't there in terms of always hustling and using his 6 foot 3 frame to be physical.. let him stay down for a while and work with the coachs on every aspect of his game and I am sure he'll be a stud next time he comes up..

Pyatt is soft as hell, boyle made vulchenkov his ***** last night.. punished him on multiple times.. he does need a tough guy.. i wish ott or torres could be that guy.. they would be beast together on 3rd with miller..

Indeed. Torts has said it again and again. He tolerates Miller's mistakes because Miller is out there trying to make plays. If Kreider uses his size and speed to forecheck and create scoring chances, Torts will be willing to take he bad with the good.

I guess you haven't been watching Roman Hamrlik out there. Not an NHL level defenseman at this point.

3rd line LW. Preferably centered by Miller... but likely centered by Boyle.

I'd really like to see CK get time on a line that can do some offensive damage. As much as I like the Hags - Step - Cally line, Step is BY FAR the best center right now and it might be good for CK to get some time with a creative player that's really on his game like Step is.

Also, I hope to see him really, truly use his speed and strength. Failing to do so last time he was up was the biggest problem IMO. He's faster than most NHL players and stronger than a huge number of guys. He's got to use those assets and play a game that depends on them.

Kreider needs to prove himself.

He was terrible in his time up. I wouldn't have minded if he and JT were in the AHL together building chemistry.

Right now i'm not too confident a combo of them would do much against NHL competition. Here's hoping CK proves me wrong and shows me the play I hope he can be and the one we need.

Hamrlik has been brutal. He can't hold the puck on his stuck when under the slightest bit of pressure, and he's a step behind everything when other team has the puck.

It's not a stamina issue, it's a timing issue...or he's just too old to play NHL caliber defense anymore. Time will tell.

Would like to see Miller-Boyle-Kreider as a 3rd line to start out tonight. This move makes a lot of sense honestly, you can drop Pyatt to a 4th line role as he's been pretty bad over the last few weeks.

Yeah, Torts asks for his offensive stars to be defensively responsible, but it's not something that happens overnight. I posted about this earlier in the thread, but CK has been the best player on the ice in every game he's played over the last 5-6 years most likely. The big knock on him while he was at BC was that he seemed like he didn't put in 100% every night while still putting up big numbers and wins, because he was that far ahead of everyone else there. It almost looked like he was bored. Work ethic and defensive responsibility can be learned, look at Gaborik...the guy was a joke defensively his first year here and now while he's not great you see him blocking shots and backchecking. He's not a TOTAL liability.

When Miller and Kreider were up playing together, it was the first time I was happy with the Rangers lineup this entire season. They've been playing too many games with two 4th lines. Kreider and Miller together make the 3rd line an actual threat. Kreider's been playing great hockey in CT and I think he'll be able to translate that here, starting tonight.

He has very good positioning. Has he been great, no, in my opinion, he's been better and more stable than what we've had in our revolving door there.
