If Jaromir leaves the Rangers in 2 seasons I suspect we will be replacing him with another or other UFA. While we have some nice forward prospects those who might possibly be first line players for instance Dawes or Prucha might be better suited as 2nd line players. As 1st liners they'd be more the type who would compliment a more talented player. We--at least as of now do not have a forward who looks to be a really legit 1st line player in our system.
It could be a LeCavalier or someone of that nature. A team with some big name hits the skids and decides to dump big contracts and/or the UFA route. Whoever it might be-- looking at what we have coming along in the next few seasons--he's playing for someone else right now.
Never. It's NY. Fans do want All-Star team. Just read some threads here.
Right, well the way we are drafting it looks that way... I'm not saying we won't sign a big UFA once Jagr is done... but there might not be a need to. If we win I don't think it matters if our players are an "All-Star team"
If Sather/Maloney listened to every trade proposal here our team would be different every other day with no chemisty... but I would suppose we have an all star team...
We could turn into Buffalo and just roll out 3 very skilled lines without legit stars (unless you think Briere and Max are stars)
I really don't think this i a recipe for success, however. Stanley Cup winning teams ALWAYS have atleast one dominant player, and while a team like Buffalo can make it pretty far, they hardly ever go all the way.
Looking back just a couple of years:
Eric Staal
Richards/Lecavalier/St. Louis
Brodeur/Stevens/Niedermayer
Yzerman/Lidstrom
Sakic/Forsberg
Carolina was probably the closest thing to a team without a dominant player, but Staal is close if he is not one already.

It's pretty impossible to tell, because Jagr will probably be here for 3yrs min. Who knows what the team will look like then.
3 years? I was under the impression that he is done after 2 more years. And the thing is, Jagr is irreplacable, we might be able to find someone that can put up 40 goals or so, but it is going to be SOOO hard to find someone that commands the attention that Jagr does and still put up his kind of stats.
Tom Poti will come back to the Rangers, after tearing up the Island. He will thus lead us into the Playoffs Single-handedly with 2 goals and 113 assists. after sweeping every team the Rangers will face The Chicago Blackhawks. Poti will be the next Brian Leetch. Scoring 14 Goals and 30 Assists. Conn Smythe Winner.
Later that week, he gets Tested Positive for Steroids. Conn Smythe is then Given to Al Montoya... of the Chicago Blackhawks.
Poti then says he had no idea that he was taking steroids...

theres your Leading Scorer.
I'd be shocked to learn that Tom Poti isn't allergic to steroids.
It doesn't look to me like we have any sure 40 goal scorers on the NHL level in our system. The poster who noted the situation in Buffalo might be dead on. I'd rather have a complete team of a few 20 goal scorers than one 50 goal scorer any day.
