The real joke in the first image is that theres actually 28% of people in Canada with slower speeds than me, like really? we're so ****ing far behind with our infrastructures lol, cellular technology is just as behind

**** this ****, i'm moving to Sweden
Woah, that's strange that you've got caps on bandwidth usage in the US. In Finland I think we've always had unlimited cap, only the speed has been regulated. With mobile connects at first there was caps, but those rather quickly disappeared when people moved to the ones offering unlimited there also. I've got an unlimited 20/10 connection and pay $40 for it. On the mobile it's a 2/1 and pay $6.

Why is it so regulated in the US? Is it because of the amount of users or just greed by the companies?

US doesn't have too much in the way of hard caps, pretty sure BeBen is in Canada.

There are some hard caps here but it's mostly not enforced. And they are usually so high that you'll never hit it anyway. Most of the exceptions are on the east coast.

Like Sniper said i'm in Canada, Quebec to be more precise and it's the worst

The reason they can get away with limiting people so much is that there's only really like 3 companies that can compete and they own all the infrastructure, and it's old as ****...

Plus they can get away with it because of these assclowns

Ahh, sorry, for some reason I just assumed you were from the States. Sorry

The telecommunications industry I believe is pretty restricted in all countries, due to high investment costs (and the fact that the infrastructure is owned by competitors). A case example of where more liberal economic policy would have a direct benefit to the end user. I'd imagine some companies can start building their own infrastructure in a single city and gain customers with better technology (f.ex fiber cable vs copper) and thus lower prices / better performance, but that's not easy either.

It's worse in Canada than most countries because we've got such a huge (physical) country with a spread out population, and because the CRTC has had a long-standing practice of protecting the two major Canadian ISPs (Rogers and Bell, plus a third that varies geographically between Shaw, Telus, or other smaller ISPs), who own the bulk of the infrastructure, from foreign competition which means there's less competition to a) drive down costs for consumers and b) catalyze the development of our infrastructure.

You don't get Bioshock or the TF2 items, but $30 in 2K credit. Holy ****.

Credit lasts for a year too, pretty good deal, especially if you own the original Bioshock. I am curious though, it says can't be used on other pre-orders, what about when those games are released, can you use it then?

I just looked around, there are pretty much no 2K published games worth getting for the rest of the year (as of right now).

The GMG version will give you Bioshock, plus another 2K game PLUS X-COM Enemy Unknown for free PLUS $15 credit ($14 cash back).

Most of the country is uninhabited and the population is largely concentrated along the US borders, particularly around the major cities.

How much are you paying per month on that?
i've had a pretty nasty cold over the last few days, so i wasn't on the computer too much ...but i just checked my speeds again, and while the download speed remains the same ...the upload speeds have increased ... (was around 17Mb/s upload before)

i pay around $200 or a little more a month for home phone, internet, and HDTV/PVR. its a Bell Aliant FibreOp bundle.

i also got a free 32" LCD Samsung HDTV with it. it was a deal that they had at the time last summer when i switched providers.

Hahaha, I was going to buy it anyway cause it was dirt cheap. Someone offered it to me for my Bioshock copy.. Everyone has Bioshock, it's always on sale for less than $5.

Thanks for the update on Infinite. Going to pre-load tonight thought I can't play it until probably Thursday.

Even taking that into consideration, Canada's population is still spread out. Most of our major cities top out at a little over 1M population in the metro area. Compared to Korea/Japan and Europe, and certainly parts of the US, that's spread out.
