Why would we want Roy back?

Just look at how much better the Sabres have been without him....

Just making a couple of observations.

Still waiting for the team to be better without him like most said would happen.

We sucked with him, we suck without him.

What was our record at this point of the season last year?

After 30 games we were 15-12-3 with a -1 goal differential.

No way would Roy ever sign back here.Anyway, he is going to get vastly overpaid this summer. The centers available in free agency this year are extremely weak.Roy is arguably going to be the best center available, competing with an aging Patrik Elias (who is actually more of a LW),Mike Ribeiro, and Stephen Weiss.Roy will easily get 5+ a year average.

This upcoming Free Agency is putrid.Teams just re-sign their young stars and the only thing that is usually available are aging vets. The top 2 players available will be a 36 year old Jarome Iginla and Alexander Semin.I wouldn't mind giving Iginla the offer we supposedly gave Doan, 7/28.Iginla is a future HoFer and still is one of the best in the game.He would never sign here though, if he leaves Calgary it'll be for a contender, not Buffalo.

Why in the hell would you give a 36yo any more than a 2 year contract, because if he retires with time left on the books you take a nasty cap hit throughout the remaining duration of the contract.

The same reason why they offered it to Doan. That's the only chance in hell I.e. having to overpay. If Darcy offered that for Doan I'm pretty sure he would offer it to Iginla who is a much better player and still has plenty to offer.

He offered it to Doan before they signed the new CBA; back then there wasn't the prohibitive clause regarding retirement and residual time on contracts. Hell even if you traded a player under contract and they retired, the original team still suffers a penalty.

Typical Zzamboni post. Quote Jame. Take unnecessary shot at poster. Add nothing to the conversation. Move on.

Wash, rinse, repeat.
