Gordon is a great fit for what we need; I've been advocating for him all season. But yeah, we need Phoenix to drop out or fall in love with a prospect, which certainly could happen.

This is a joke right? Please, please tell me it was a joke. The only thing Gordon does better than Kruger is faceoffs and using Pirri to get him would be awful asset management.

I'm all for Gordon for our 4th line C, but not at that cost.

According to EK if you can believe him
With yesterday's call up of Jake Gardiner and as is being reported today, Komisarek accepting to waive his no movement clause and either get traded or be moved to the minors, along with several rumors I am hearing of discussions the Leafs are having with Chicago about a forward and Dallas (regarding Derek Roy).... I would not be surprised if the next big move in the NHL came out of Ontario.

If the Hawks are going to make a move I hope they do it right after the game tonight. They don't play again till next Monday and it would give the team time to adjust to the new player.

*EDIT* Plus with Hossa and Sharp are already out so line chemistry is already a bit ****ed up.

that's bad. This does nothing for the hawks. We want to add depth, not trade the depth we have away

We are short on NHL centers so we should trade two for one?

Unfortunately, I doubt Phoenix trades him while they're still in the playoffs hunt - which they are and will probably still be on April 3rd.
the ONLY thing he does better than frolik is win faceoffs, and you want to add either an nhl caliber center or a solid looking prospect to get him? this is where the obsession over faceoffs loses me. oh AND hes a rental.

FWIW, the advanced stats suggest that Bolland has been playing against the other team's best players every night, and is doing just fine in the role.

I think so, but not because he's doing a bad job. Shaw and Kruger are truly filling the 3/4C roles quite well, not as well as Bolland would, but well enough that they've pushed Bolland up to 2C... and he's been OK there, but is just not showing the kind of offensive talent I would hope.

Main reason he will go is because it's a cap world... he's prob my second fav guy on the team after Hossa and I'd hate to see him go, but I don't think the Hawks can continue to pay him like he's being paid while keeping all of the more important core pieces around... add to that the fact that he would probably make some attractive trade bait to upgrade at 2C or elsewhere if we happen to need it. He's great at what he does and I think there are plenty of teams around the league that would love to have him on the team.

um corsi suggests bolland is getting beat like a drum, which unsurprisingly syncs with both his stats and the eye test.

the stats say that he is overmatched and bad at doing his job so far this season.
Stats say the exact opposite of what you are saying.

Same here. Unless Bolland plays lights out in the POs I totally expect Bowman to trade him in the offseason and keep Stalberg.

I think a Bolland for Hiller Deal would not be out of reach if all goes as I expect it to happen. Fasth will be good enough, Ducks will not make it past the 2nd round and Crawford is not that #1 guy we want to go forward with and committ lots of money.

After all, it will be all about the POs and how the team is playing when it matters.

Meh, really? Bolland has definitely become expendable (although I still like him a lot more than most do, seemingly), but if the Hawks are going to trade him, I hope they get something other than Hiller. Not that that isn't good value - it is. But Crawford is more than good enough. Trading Bolland should only be done if it actually results in an improvement somewhere.

The third line is playing extremely sheltered minutes and Bolland is still playing against the opposition's best players. So unless Bowman/Q are confident that Shaw's line can take a huge step forward defensively or are confident enough in Kruger's line to play them 15 mins a game (which would take TOI away from the scoring lines), then I don't see how Bolland has become expendable.

Stars fan coming in peace.

Rumour has it you're after centre depth for PO, is that right?

What would you guys be willing to pay for Roy as a rental - with recent owner comment sit looks as though Dallas could well go the route of a seller this yr.

You guys are playing some incredible hockey by the way. Not looking forward to being in the same division as you next year!!

knowing your GM, he would want Teräväinen and Saad for Roy as Rental but will deal him to the Leafs for a 2nd and Frattin...

I'd take Roy if the price is right, this won't happen

Tying goal last night, Bolland late coming on a change, never picked up a guy. 2-2.

That was Kane's man to be picked up, not Bolland's. Bolland did not have a good game, but if you want to criticize him you should probably point out things he actually did wrong.

Agreed, after watching a replay from a different angle, it was Kane's guy.

Yeah, GMJN is a complete idiot. Totally incompetent sometimes.

As for the Stars fan, I suggested Roy last year a few times when he was a Sabre. I'd take him for Pirri and a 2nd.

Yeah, Roy isn't happening. The Stars are too incompetent to even know what to do with him. Just let him walk for nothing in a non-playoff year and continue to be mediocre. That's GMJN's plan apparently. What an idiot.

We also won't get Roy for the fact that the Stars probably don't want to be in a division with him if he can't be retained.

That's where this realignment can have an impact now. We can't pursue guys like Stastny, Little, Roy, etc. without disgusting overpayment.

People expecting a 2nd line center are going to be sorely dissapointed.
