He could be, just could be the next big thing in Toronto. My fingers are crossed. The kid has

1. The skill
2. The confidence
3. The determination/drive

That will enable him to succeed, imo. I have never seen a Leafs player where all 3 are as evident as with Nazem Kadri. Phil Kessel has 1, but sometimes not 2 or 3. Phaneuf is hit and miss. I feel like Kadri has all 3 firing almost every time he plays.

and finally a coach who actually coaches him.

I remember the days of Sundin. He Was so electrifying. Kadri is getting LeafsNation excited again. Finally (hopefully) after 7 years of waiting we have a team to be proud of.

After Naz's hatty I had to wait a couple hours for my heart rate to o back to normal

Bit late tonight...have a HUGE 50 page lab report due and my lab partner has the flu

Just read that Carlyle is now starting to test Kadri against some of the toughest competition.

I bet he's getting ready to put Kadri with Kessel soon. That is going to be something else..do we even need a LW on that line?

So, its 30 games in, and Kadri is 8th in Centre scoring, ahead of scrubs like:

Pavel Datsyuk
Jonathan Toews
Anze Kopitar

Now, those players bring a lot of other elements to the game too, obviously. Next up on Kadri's docket: improve in faceoffs. Another summer with Roberts will help him witht that, along with simple experience.

Same. I had planned to do some studying after the game, but I kept on staying on HF and re-watching his hatty. Really excited. Whatever the results of our team, it looks like we at least have a player to be proud of. His skill is undeniable, but it's his passion and committment that really seems to be the reason why he's excelling.

I can't wait to see Kadri in the playoffs.

If you ever watched London in the playoffs, you would know how ****ing clutch he is. He outshone Tavares in the playoffs and had 27 points in 12 games.

I love how people STILL put a cap on this guys potential.

First...let him make the NHL, he could be a top six guy or bust.
Then...he'll be a good 3rd liner..needs to get slim though. FAT LOL
Then...he'll be a good #2C.
Now he's proving to be a PPG player that is responsible defensively.

Face it guys. After 1-2 more years...the Leafs won't be looking for a #1C because they already have one.

I don't disagree at all, Kadri is a magician, kid could probably make Gomez look respectable. Thing is that Frattin can't just rely on Kadri, he had Mac wide-open today but elected to take a very low% shot instead, made some very poor passes that resulted in turnovers as well as the 2nd goal against.

That surprises me. Didn't really think Kadri would earn the trust of Carlyle so quick that he would take an inexperienced young player who was playing sheltered offensive minutes to more of a shutdown role.

Good on Kadri, he certainly deserves a bigger role but this is quite a jump. He did well tonight though shutting down Stamkos so maybe he could succeed in this role as well. Having Kulemin on the wing helps. For them to succeed, they will probably need to continue playing a puck possession game and spend time in the offensive zone and it's possible that's what Carlyle could be thinking as well. This should mean Kadri will see his minutes jump up a bit. It also opens up room for Grabovski to focus his game offensively and see some easier minutes. I hope fans don't get on Kadri if his point production declines a bit in this role which it very well could.
Don't think RC trusts him but he doesn't have a choice. The team just wasn't working so they roll the dice and hope the kid can carry the load.

Looks like they are right, you really need to draft and develop your own #1C.

Agreed, I actually don't want Kessel and Kadri on the same line. It might jump start Kessel, but you basically have it, why put all the offense on one line?

There are far too many 91's in this league.

I like 43. It's Kadri's number...not just the conventional number.

And to think Vancouver could of had Kadri and Bosak for Loungo and turned it down. Suckers.

Doesn't have a choice?

He has a choice of putting Bozak's line or Grabo's line.

Kadri played 11 of his 15 minutes against two of the top 5 point getters in the NHL right now in Stamkos/MSL.

We lose our best faceoff guy in Bozak and pretty much our best player in Kadri for....7uongo. That's just scary. Thank GOD Burke (at least I hope he did) was patient enough to keep his faith in Naz to just let him do his thing. Or if not, (can't believe I'm saying this) thank you MLSE for firing him .

As much as I like Lupul with Kadri, I think we need to get Lupul back with Kessel. Kadri has been awesome all season, no matter who he is playing with. It seems like the only time anything happens is when he is on. Putting Lupul with Kessel will give us two lines that can bring excitement
