I agree with you, but him having fun at the same moment the coach is trying to be serious and save his job by putting the team through drills.....is a little irritating to me. Not to mention you are supposed to be one of the on ice leaders of a team that is slumping right now, and you know that if you didn't have a NTC your ass would be out of here.

On a side note, I saw Timonen off to the side with a determined look in his eyes, yeah now that's what I'd rather see from a grown man who's team isn't doing so hot.

The best way to ruin a player is to take all the fun out of the game.

Too bad Briere's already been ruined though. Let him have all the fun he wants.

You're thinking way too hard, deftones. They have six days between games. If you think everyone should have a Timonen stare down in their eyes for this whole week then you're crazy.

I'd rather have a guy joking around and having a good time during practice than someone who's just doom and gloom about struggling to win games. Gotta keep morale up.

Now if he were doing this during a game that the team is losing, then I'd be a little upset.

EDIT:

I'm not trying to make a big deal about a guy having fun at practice.

It's just the timing thing to me.

You're Briere and your name is being brought up about a buyout and a trade if you didn't have a no trade clause....but you don't care and you'd rather just hang out with Rinaldo.....that's just not a player I really want on my team anymore that's all I'm saying.

This is reminiscent of that time people went completely out of their minds when they learned Richards and Carter have free time not dedicated to working on hockey.

I suspect that's not high on his list.

(Baseless) Speculation is:

- Boston
- Ottawa
- Anaheim (but they don't have cap space next year)
- Detroit?

It isn't a big list.

Except the bulk of the fan base already actively hates Briere.

So...it is reminiscent of the time that people went completely out of their mind when they learned that Carter had free time...

Without knowing the context, it is hard to get worked up about this report, but if it helps get Danny out the door, I'm willing to embrace the faux outrage.

Nah he's just the guy who is making THE most money on the team, you might remember him for being the guy who just shows up in the playoffs. But since we're most likely not going to make the postseason, I guess it's cool that he plays leapfrog with Zach Rinaldo.

Must be awesome to have the capability of taking a caption out of a person's life, and immediately know the inner workings of that person's mind. Are you some kind of superhero? If so, what's your moniker?

I agree with deftones. It's one thing to blow off some steam during a run-of-the-mill practice or part of a practice, but if Laviolette is trying to lay down the law, Brière should be professional enough to show some seriousness. Because his play is contributing significantly to Laviolette being on the hot seat (assuming he is on the hot seat, of course).

And if Laviolette were bag skating them and Brière pulled a couple of pucks out and started stickhandling, would we be good with that?

Come on... I hate Danny Briere for his play this year and I want him traded sooo badly, but him laughing while he's watching his teammates / his coach running a drill is such a non-issue.

They run the same drills pretty much every practice. There's no reason he needs to be 100% serious at all. Unless he subsequently went out there and ran the drill incorrectly or distracted someone who was running the drill, there's no story here.

And why isn't anyone getting on Rinaldo for allegedly participating in the antics? Or why aren't we getting on Giroux, who's been photographed smiling at numerous practices, pre-game warmups before giant games, etc? Or how about Hartnell, who was filmed smiling and pranking Richards during an in-game interview in 2011?

This is absolutely ridiculous.

I don't care about practice, but if he isn't gone by the trade deadline they need to bench him for the rest of the season to make sure he doesn't get injured. Briere can't be bought out if he's hurt.

So ya had no idea where to put this but the lines at practice:

24-28-93
12-10-17
19-26-36
37-14-48

Danny Briere is DEMOTED, or I guess Hartnell might be.

Briere and Couts are together on the 4th line. Bout time Briere was moved down there.

Quote:
Forwards: 24-28-93; 12-10-17; 19-26-36; 37-14-48
Keep Briere away from Schenn and I am happy.

Briere was just sharing a laugh with Rinaldo about Zac's hate thread from the main board.

For as Brutal as he has been, he may be worse on the 4th line. Send him to the pressbox like Leafs did with Komi. Bench him till he waives NMC .

I'd make the fourth line 19-14-48. Then we can bask in the glory of the line of the underachievers.
