Good goalies make big saves at key times. Unfortunately the Oilers don't have one.

Somehow that was Krugers fault? Was he supposed to stop those pucks himself? Hard to win a shootout when your goalie lets in 2 out of 3.

Man, we could've have easily won this game.

The unnecessary penalty by Whitney took all the momentum away.

Just the ones on TSN.

The majority of Oilers games are on Sportsnet with Kevin Quinn and Louie DeBrusk.

I'm so ****ing sick of this pathetic team. We can't close out a game to save our lives. Ralph clearly has something to do with it.. the team is just terrible with the lead it's embarrassing. Any team in this league should be confident they can come back against us.

I'd love to know what Hemsky contributed tonight other than a few t-drags and well, the slowest and most delayed one he saved for the shoot out. Oil need a big two-way defender in the back end that can skate. Not Whitney. Schultz is literally swimming uphill at this stage. He looks like he needs some Gardiner treatment.

Where was Harski in the 3rd?

I hate to bet against the Oilers but something told me we would choke. Anyways, long story short, I just won $372.20 from sport select thanks to both the Sharks and Oilers.

Not Kruger's fault. Not Dubnyk's fault.

The real guys to fault here is Mark Fistric, Nick Schultz, and Ryan Smyth.

Both are terrible at executing anytime of systematic play. Fistric playing on his off-side (RD) is an embarrassment to the sport. Nick Schultz is Steve Staios - I can't believe we keep a veteran Canadian around this long but give up on a better Russian in Grebeshkov - literally probably for nationality reasons.

Ryan Smyth is just too inconsistent. His effort is sweet, sometimes his veteran savvy shines through - but he can't close on defense, can't make effective plays when it matters. Pisses me off.

On the bright side, the double shifting of MPS was a brilliant move on Kruger's part - who better to put out there then arguably your best defensive player. Guy was a menace all game long - neutralizing Marleau at ES, breaking up the Sharks fast-breaks up the ice, and getting his sticks into lanes. Other than Gagner our best forward tonight, along with Hall.

Get Dubnyk OUT of an oilers jersey. Anyone blaming this on Kruegar are out of your minds and have no eyes in their head. You can clearly see who cost us the game.

Blow a 2 goal lead
Had help from The Avs.
Instead of being tied for 8th, they're now 3 points back.

Way to go!

Yakupov was benched after a shift where he laid a few hits and created a scoring chance. Either he hurt himself on one of the hits or he was sat down despite being effective.

Petry?! Why you hard on him tonight? 25 solid minutes. Complaining just to complain about nothing.

Chance to be in the playoffs with 19 games in the season and you blow a 2 goal lead in the third and round out the choke in the shootout.

What a disappointment this team is. Even when they finally have meaningful games they find a way to be one of the most disappointing teams in the league.
Exactly. They don't choke those leads against Det and SJ and the point totals are:

EDM 31 instead of DET 33
DET 31 SJ 32
SJ 30 EDM 29

Dubnyk's brains get scrambled every time his team has a lead going into the 3rd

I have to agree. I don't see the advantage to going in so slow.

yeah this game is all on dubnyk, no question about it... he looked terrible pretty much all night and couldn't control rebounds to save his life... the 1st and 3rd goals were all on him, and then he looked absolutely TERRIBLE in the shootout as well

all in all though, i was fairly pleased with how we played... we were down some players, and scrambling to ice balanced lines, and still almost won against a team that usually causes us fits with their size and cycle game... still got a point out of the game as well

I cant believe yakupov got benched. This really pisses me off. HOW is he supposed to have a chance to do what he does best??? Some bad coaching is holding up his developement, sucks for edmonton too.

Some great (somewhat borderline) hits by both teams.... Fistric and Yak hits were a treat..

Are you kidding? Everyone watching the third when we are up 2 is yelling at their TV's because Kreuger has the wrong guys on the ice (apparently you were not one of them) and is going to cause us to lose. It happens.

Was there ever really any doubt they would gas it in the third? This team is not built to defend leads no matter how large they are. Maybe they should make a new game plan to be trailing in the third because they seem to win those games more often
