If Quick remembers how to play again, LA will be Tier 1. However with such horrible goaltending they are firmly planted in Tier 2.

Oh and the OP's list is accurate right now.

Although when Kes returns I think we will vault into tier 2.

Would not be surprised a bit if that was the case.

I am really hoping for a series with the Hawks, Ducks, or both. I think we would see some really good hockey. The Kings seem to have the Blues' number, so don't be offended St. Louis fans.

I guess the Kings and Wild will be testing each other near the end of the month.
GL beating the Ducks and Hawks in the playoffs. The absolute 100% fact is that the Hawks and Ducks will be significant favorites in a playoff series (assuming no core injuries).

They might be favorites, but both would be foolish to overlook Los Angeles. Or any team for that matter. The Kings are a team that, I think, are capable of beating or matching any team in the league. That's a very good team they've built in LA.

Having said that, no team will be favored in a 7 game series against ANA or CHI.
But who is favored in a possible ANA vs CHI WCF?

Colorado thumped Chicago once too, should they be tier 1 or tier 2? Dumb argument there.

Don't cherry pick, Eva. We suck, accept it.

Given no core injuries it will probably be CHI. CHI was a favorite/slight underdog tonight on the road on the end of a road trip without Hossa and Sharp (Granted Ducks were missing Perry).

That's a good question though and it will depend on the rest of the season.

As of right now, I'd probably say Anaheim by a hair, because the Ducks have won both games. All bets are off when the puck drops, though.

That would be an epic series.

The last of which was against the Kings.

Anaheim and Chicago are clearly ahead of the pack for now.

I make the Hawks slight favorites over the Kings as things stand today, and I would favor the Kings in a 7-game series against the Ducks. The Kings size up front and ability to wear a defense down in a long series is what I believe would be the deciding factor in a series against either team.

I wouldn't get carried away with the difference in regular season records.

Agreed that the playoffs are a completely different animal... and I would actually favor the Kings vs Anaheim in a 7 game series as well.

That's a discussion for another day right now though, as we still have almost 20 games to go in the regular season... Everyone goes back to square one once the playoffs begin... (well everyone that makes the playoffs that is).

That's fine if you feel that way but people much smarter than us who make a lot of money knowing the game will have both ANA and CHI as significant favorites.

Remember that your team isn't the only one with a Championship pedigree.

Being that everyone has 17-20 games left it is way too early to predict the playoff picture, but I will do it anyway. I am also the biggest admitted homer in the world...

Round 1
1. Anaheim
2. Chicago
3. Minnesota
4. LA
5. St. Louis
6. Columbus
7. Vancouver
8. Detroit

Round 2
1. Anaheim
2. Chicago
3. Minnesota (if healthy and barely. and I want to predict an LA/Anaheim playoff series )
4. LA

Round 3
1. Anaheim
2. Chicago

Anaheim in the SCF (hopeful yet i think possible)

Chicago and Anaheim have the points, sure, but there's a reason we're starting to see LA separate from the pack. They got off to a terrible 3-5-2 start and have since gone 14-5-0. And thats with Mitchell and Greene on the IR and Quick putting up the worst statistical performance of his career. They're right up there with anyone in the league.
Separate from the pack? What standings are you looking at? Blues are two points behind you and only six points from being out of the playoffs.

Nobody is separating from the rest of the West besides Anaheim and Chicago.

I would be okay with this. Except that I hope nothing but the worst things to Anaheim (and at the same time nothing but the best for Teemu & Saku).
