Its called life ,, If you cant play NHL hockey you wont be on NHL team
If you sign a guy as a free agent and then waive him....ya it will. Mayers is a guy that is liked in the locker room. If you want to dump someone to call up someone else, send Bollig back down.

Trading him was slap in all there faces right?

Dump Mayers and send down Bollig ,, Either way neither belong in NHL at this point

Yeah, it is what it is and if he doesn't get claimed, he can come back up in the playoffs.

Trading a guy that you drafted is quite different from resigning a guy and then waiving him during the season to bring up a rookie.

So giving Mayers an NHL contract when clearly no one else wanted him and cutting him because he sucks is not allowed?

Frankly he should be grateful the Hawks extended his career 2 years at this point

Are we sure no one else would have signed him? He actually got a $100,000 raise from the Hawks.

My point is, why cause the disruption for 1 game? Its not worth it.

It's not about 1 game. We're talking about replacing him with someone better for the rest of the year.

Where does he play? Mayers is sitting in the press box, he's not on the ice.

Dump Mayers/Bollig and have Pirri up for rest of year

Saad-Toews-Kane
Sharp-Pirri-Hossa
Bickell-Shaw-Stalberg
Kruger-Bolland-Frolik
(Carcillo)

There ,, If Pirri fails to light things up then you call up Smith for rest of year and throw Bolland back into top 6 (As bad as that option is)

They see Pirri every game. If they thought he was better than Bolland, they'd call him up. I know everyone likes prospects but Pirri didn't look ready at all when he was up last year. Do you really think its wise to bring up a rookie to play 18 minutes a game at this point in the season? I do like that 4th line though, thats a real shut down line with some offensive ability.

Clearly, they think Hayes is a better option than Smith and they watch every game and get reports on every practice about these guys.

I used Smith as call up over Hayes because it makes more sense to have a guy like Smith watching most of games from press box not Hayes

I disagree, I think Bolland is getting the good-old-boy treatment right now. They're probably hoping he picks up his game soon and aside from the occasional pretty play he probably won't.

This is the biggest joke of a post I have seen in a while.

Dump Mayers and Carcillo.

Bollig had four shots on goal last night. Bolland had no shots on goal. So what's Bolland's excuse?

Jimmy Hayes had only one shot on goal. Send down Jimmy Hayes and bring up Jeremy Morin, who incidentally leads the Rockford Icehogs in goals scored.

You mean the same player coach Q benched in last year's playoffs?

Again, being scratched is different than being waived and assigned to Rockford

I will take any offloading of scrubs at this point. With Sharp oout another 2-3 weeks we might as well band aid with prospects.

What about Talbot? If he's available, I'd be very interested. And only for a 2nd round pick + something small? Hell yeah.

Package Mayers in a trade along with a 2013 4th round draft pick to the Washington Capitals for Matt Hendricks. Heck, toss in Kyle "the Dale Tallon ultimate draft bust special" Beach along as well.
