Its a message board where people obsess about hockey. The whole damn concept of HFBoards is silly. Doesn't stop hundreds of people doing it everyday. If you think its a "silly topic" move on.

3. Minnesota
4. LA
5. St. Louis
6. Columbus
7. Vancouver
8. Detroit

Round 2
1. Anaheim

3. Minnesota (if healthy and barely. and I want to predict an LA/Anaheim playoff series )
4. LA

Round 3
1. Anaheim
2. Chicago

Anaheim in the SCF (hopeful yet i think possible)
Every year someone posts these types of tiers but rarely does it work that way. I'd say the most likely scenario is one or both of the 7th / 8th place teams beats out either 1 or 2 or both, for that matter.

Almost always upsets and they seem to be usually in the first round.

In your scenario, either Vancouver or Detroit could accomplish this, especially over a 7 game series.

I'd challenge the claim that the 1st and 2nd ranked team are almost always upset by 7 or 8.

Nashville has to be the worst right now. Everyone on the team not named Weber has sucked.

here are the stats since the 05-06 playoffs

2007 - 0/4
2006 - 2/4 (#1 Detroit, #2 Dallas)
2008 - 0/4
2009 - 1/4 (#1 San Jose)
2010 - 2/4 (#1 Washington, #2 New Jersey)
2011 - 0/4
2012 - 2/4 (#1 Vancouver, #2 Boston)

that equates to 7/28 = 25% which is about right IMO.

Is it really that important? I would have them tied. All that matters is the playoffs.

Agreed, I think Muzzin still has too many defensive lapses which is overlooked because of his offense and skill on the PP. Martinez is capable to play top 4 minutes but inconsistant just like Ellerby.

Ha, I guess so.

Also consider that LA handed Anaheim one of their three regulation losses, a 5-2 drubbing a few weeks back. But I suppose Anaheim's 7-4 drubbing of LA evens that out.

This may sound homer but whatever: I'm still not convinced Anaheim is the real deal. That may sound ridiculous but they're at the bottom third of the league in score adjusted fenwick and I'm a huge believer in tracking possession statistics. The top SAF team over the last four years has either won the Cup or gone to the Finals. The advanced statistics just don't add up to Anaheim's incredible W-L record. Take into account that Anaheim has rallied from behind FOURTEEN times this season to produce a win. That's absurd. Also consider that the Ducks have one more ROW than LA yet 12 more points. Doesn't add up.

Maybe they're just flying in the face of SAF and it means nothing, but I'm still waiting for a collapse.

Chicago, on the other hand, is one of the top SAF teams in the league and their record indicates it. Definitely belong in tier one.

the 7 beats the two seed often enough for it to be noted

8 doesn't beat one very often

I don't see how you can say LA is a step above Minnesota when LA has a record of 14-7-0 since Feb 9th and Minnesota in the same time frame has a record of 13-5-1.

They have been stride for stride this year, and IMO they are attached at the hip as long as that continues until one or the other completely outplays the other head to head.

This shortened season is so weird. Can't believe we haven't played the Wild yet. I feel like we played every other game during the first half last year!

The only reason I can see for this is because of what happened last year. The Kings are basically the same team and some could be giving credit for that. But looking on what has happened this year you are right.

goal differential and possession stats. Those are splitting hairs though, they should be in the same tier imo

Everyone in this thread is severely underrating the Avs. They're about to go on a 20 game winning streak, they'll never lose again this season...

Hell who am I kidding. With Joe Sacco leading this team were destined for Jones. Should be a different story next year though with Jones and EJ mounting the top pairing on Defense and the man in clown shoes nowhere to be seen.

Unsustainable, that's what your stats are
Unsustainable shots from near or far
Like a shot on goal that clings to me
Never before have some stats been more

Unsustainable in every way
And forevermore, that's how you'll stay
That's why, Ducklings, it's incredible
That some team with stats so unsustainable
Doesn't know it's winning % should be unsustainable too.
