What's getting lost in all of this is that Doughty is still thinking about the Canucks... at all times. Perfect. They are quite clearly in his head. As a Canucks fan, I look at that as good thing. As you were.

Doughty's been a whiner since he first stepped onto an NHL rink. Hopefully he grows out of it, but it makes me cringe when I see him start flinging sand in the sandbox.

Not even close. Doughty was pretty good against our legendarily bad PK in the 2010 series against us, but really didn't do anything at all at even strength. And he had 0 points against us in the playoffs last year. Doughty doesn't scare me as a player in any way whatsoever.

Considering all of his points, 7 in 11 games (nothing special), came during the series that we beat LA in, him "lighting us up in the playoffs" is probably not the reason we hate him. Like another poster alluded to, his whining to the refs is something i always watch for whenever we play the Kings, and it is almost funny. And I'm not gonna look all over youtube for examples of him diving, but he does do it all the time. I'll bump this thread the next time we play the Kings if i have to.

Funny that the only fanbase accusing Doughty of being a diver are Nucks fans. Like a pot calling a kettle black. He's vocal in his dislike towards Vancouver and Phoenix, and look at the comments those two clubs made after losses, whining about the officiating, missed calls, accusing opponents of playing dirty, the pile of excuses just keep mounting and mounting.

Maybe you guys should be more concerned with the position of your team than a players opinion, which has its legit merits.

As for Doughty doing nothing against Vancouver last playoffs, can you guys remind me of who created the play that led the Kings to tie the game late in the 3rd period to send Game 5 to overtime?

Whining is when you continually complain about something, Doughty was asked a question and complained about it one time, it's not the same thing to me.

If you want to see whining there are a few teams that I think of as the biggest whiners in the league, the Kings are not one of them.

Did anyone ever say he did nothing? I said he had 0 points in the series. I didn't say he was garbage. However, he sure as hell didn't light anything up, not even close.

Why so sensitive?
Had a Canucks player complained about LA whining I'm sure you would be the first to defend your heroes' honour.
People forget that this is a sport. The players you complain about on other teams are the exact same players that you would be defending if they were on your team.
I mean come on you're an LA fan. I've seen Dustin Brown dive three times in one shift before. And yet LA fans swear up and down that he's just light on his skates.
And yes, I'd be defending the Dough Boy if he was on my team too.

Doughty dives all the time, who cares, half the league does these days. Don't get so bent out of shape about it.

People's problem with Doughty is that he comes off as immature and whiny. Would Ray Bourque mention another team that had nothing to do with his in an interview? Nope. Nik Lidstrom? Nope. Old school players had class and left it on the ice. To me Doughty is the face of the whiny, new-age, spoiled brats that populate this league now. That's my problem, he's never wrong, his players never dive, and it's all the other team's fault... Hell I guess that's even most fans these days... It's all the Canucks' fault right? Hypocrites all around...

We would have, but now that we have a cup, we don't really care we'd just laugh about it.

Because I don't want to get into a argument about whining, I'll ask this:

How the hell didn't He get another 2, or a misconduct for going insane in that video? Yelling "No ****ing way!" Repeatedly and smacking your stick around should add on...

Yes. Look at Crosby and his "I don't like them" fiasco against Philli...
Doan just the other night, got hit accidentally, fell to the ground like he just tore his ACL, noticed there was no call, got right back out and chased Muzzin as fast as he could.

All kinds of players dive, all kinds of players get butt hurt in this day and age.

Crosbys "I don't like them" was when he was asked about Philly, and I believe during a playoff series against them.

What does the Doan/Mizzin collision have to do with Whining? Really?

He was referring to diving.

Anyways, Canucks and Ducks fans are the only one complaining about Doughty (what a surprise) and Kings fans are the only one defending him. Doughty is immature shouldn't have said the comments as he doesn't really have the right. But, he's not wrong.

Look back at last years playoff series and Tippett after this last game.

I bet that Stanley Cup is in his head.

You guys are all liars if you said you wouldn't trade almost anyone on your team for Drew. You might not like his personality but he's one of the most natural hockey players in the league.

No question about that. He's always been a kid that needed to grow up. Which he has started to do since Sutter was hired. He still loses it sometimes, but the instances have dwindled.

I'm sure the Canucks are in his head. In the same quote he says teams like Vancouver and Phoenix play him hard, and it gets to him, and certainly in an emotional way. He's from Canada, won the gold in Vancouver, and played a couple playoff series against the Canucks, who have players that are easy to dislike. I don't know about Vancouver, but the Kings get up for the games against the Canucks. Doughty maybe more than most.

He does dive more than I remember too. Probably because the tantrums and poor choices in his own zone always bother me more. The diving, everyone cheats, everyone tries to get the edge in a given moment. I know as a fan I've never made a huge thing about watching players dive or embellish. If the refs call it, I would expect nothing else from players. All's fair in love and war. I would think even his own teammates aren't fond of the emotional outbursts though.

first of all, you're not supposed to "like them" especially against your biggest rival, otherwise that would be a big problem.

Second, My point is Doan dove on that play. You don't go down like that holding your leg like you just tore something and then jump right back up and skate as fast as possible to the guy that "hit" you. Not to mention, he DID whine in the series last year.

Because he was right? He did stop and did end up apologizing to the officials for his tantrum and admitted that he got lost in the heat of the moment in the post game comments. Least he owned up to it.

As far as Doughty "whining," what exactly is he whining about? I guess some people see an opinion and voicing ones displeasure with a hockey team as whining now? I don't see any comments with Doughty making accusations and complaining afterwards about calls or cheap tactics.

He was led to a question by John Hoven who asked him (and he asked Sutter about this too and he didn't bite on it) if the Coyotes whine too much. And guess what, they do, at least after they play the Kings they tend to, and hey, even Doan admitted to it when he made reference about it in his post game comments.

Going back to Doughty's dislike for Vancouver, let's face it, those teams hate each other. Look at how upset they got when Brown destroyed Henrik Sedin along their bench. Burrows decided to be a tough guy and took on Anze Kopitar. Such courage on his part. Of course they got their panties twisted when Richards caught Burrows with an open ice hit as well. And to cap it off, the sequence that led to the overtime goal in Game 5. I seem to recall some people crying over a missed call on that play.

Needless to say, I'm sure Doughty isn't the only player in the league to have this opinion on Vancouver.

Cool. This relates to Doughy's comments how?

You pulled the Doan incident out of your ass for no apparent reason.

Exactly. I saw Prospal get 2 for pointing at the scoreboard while jawing with Abdelkater last week. Pointing at a scoreboard, 2 minutes unsportsmanlike. Skating around the ice slamming your stick down while berating the official, nothing.
