Burrows + Raymond + Ballard + Schroeder for Gaborik and a + from our end. Hrivik or Skjei maybe?

To New York Rangers

(F) Mason Raymond
(D) Keith Ballard <Cap Dump>
(F) David Booth
(C) Brendan Gaunce or (D) Yann Sauve
Vancouver 1st round pick 2013
Conditional Vancouver 2nd round pick 2014 (if Gaborik resigns next year)

To Vancouver Canucks

(F) Marian Gaborik
(C) Brian Boyle

Rangers get 3 roster players (one is a cap dump), 1/2 picks and a prospect

Vancouver gets a premier scoring threat and a 3rd line center

Thats (2) salary dumps in Booth and Ballard which equate to more salary than Gaborik alone + Raymond who is an upcoming UFA and a decent 3rd line prospect in Gaunce.

Why would we want a journeyman and a decent but not great top-4 D for our 40 goal scorer?

Holy overpayment Batman.
I wouldn't give up Burrows straight up for Gaborik right now considering their cap hits.

The Canucks and Rangers are not good trading partners. We cant afford to give up what the Rangers would want for Gaborik.

I put a pretty substantial + in 2 of our best prospects.

Yeah but Burrows is our best playoff performer and is a perfect fit with the Sedins.

You won't get much more honestly for Gabs. There's no indication that a change in scenary could result him gaining back his form. There's also a risk factor given his previous injury concerns.

Booth when healthy, is worth the 4 mill cap, as is Ballard, if ultilized properly. You're getting a 1st in a deep draft and a potential 2nd, as Gabs already has a place in Vancouver. I wouldn't say Gaunce is a 3rd line prospect, he's very solid if you've seen him play

You're telling me that 3 roster players for depth, would not help the rangers right now?

Yes, that is exactly what I am saying.

Booth and Ballard are HORRIBLE contracts and you are trying to dump them for a 40 goal scorer. What would you ask for if he was on Vancouver?

The Rangers don't have to move him.....

The Canucks aren't looking to trade multiple roster players for one roster player + prospects.

We want guys who can help us now.

And Burrows is extremely valuable to the Canucks. Very low cap hit, great chemistry with the Sedins, he's close friends with Kesler and Bieksa, and he's been pretty clutch for us in the playoffs.

then don't

If Gabs was on Vancouver and struggling?

I'd be stoked if someone offered a 1st, 3 roster players, a conditional 2nd, and a prospect for Kesler, who's also a 40 goal scorer

Alright:

Brian Boyle + Taylor Pyatt + Roman Hamrlik + 1st + 2nd for Kesler

Almost as horrible as Gaborik's contract.

-there is no way I do this deal from a Vancouver perspective.

My best offer for Gaborik is something along the lines of Chris Higgins and Yann Sauve.

Gabby is a great player, but the Rangers got him for free, he is 7.5mil per year , and is sometimes great sometimes missing in action.

I am sure the Rangers can get better offers elsewhere . We arent good trading partners when it comes to Gaborik.

Wow....

2011 stats

Ballard
47gp
1g
6a

Booth
56gp
16g
13a

Gaborik
82gp
41g
35a

But you're right, that would be a fair trade......

Where's your prospect?

Comparible would be

Brian Boyle + Carl Hagelin + Roman Hamrlik + 1st +2nd + prospect for Kesler

Which I would do

That's not comparable at all. Booth is not a 2nd liner. He can't stay healthy and had 29 points last year. 29. Raymond is a UFA at years end so he holds little more than rental value.

Hagelin is a 23 y/o top-6 forward. I can tell you don't watch the Rangers or else you would not be happy with that deal.

Brendan Gaunce + 1st round pick + David Booth for Gaborik @ 7.5 mil.
Nicklas Jensen + 1st round pick + David Booth + 2014 2nd for Gaborik @ 6 mil.

I actually do watch the Rangers, they're my 2nd favourite team

I would be very happy with that deal

Gaborik can't stay healthy either. He played in 62 games last year. 62.

Booth isn't a second liner? That's odd, I wonder where he's been playing on a Canucks team that's stacked with winger depth when he's been healthy

In fact, Gaborik's played 1 full season of 82 games. 1.

I mean, honestly, it's great you think a 7.5m winger that has potential to score 40 goals is a godsend

but Kesler is a 5m two way center, that's won a selke and also has the potential to score 40 goals.

So, the difference between a selke and a defensive center would be a hagelin

so yes, it is comparible

He's not a 40 goal scorer like Gabs is, Kesler has done it once and we hope he can do it again, Gaborik has done it many times.

To the offer asking for Burrows, I honestly wouldn't trade Burrows, he means too much to this team and is Mr Clutch in the playoffs or at least I think he is.

Booth/Ballard + Schroeder and? for Gabs at 5.5?

Gaborik played 82 games last year. Plus playoffs. SO your premise is incorrect.

Kesler has more injury concerns at this point than Gaborik who has played in 91% of the Rangers games since signing on with the the team 4 years ago.

You saying a 29 point winger is a top-6 forward is great. On most teams, he would not be.

Yeah, it wouldn't make sense for the Canucks to move Burrows.

Awful... Booth is a capdump as well at this point.
