Alexander Avtsin

I was just on the Hamilton bulldogs site and he is no longer on the active roster.

Any idea what happened to him? I know he was a healthy scratch most nights, but there is no info on him playing in russia?

He was sent down to the ECHL. I think it's safe to say that the experiment is over.

That sucks. I was hoping he could've been even a borderline NHLer, poor guy.

Honestly, I think it's the best thing that could happen to him, at least he might play there, and not be treated like ****...

Funny thing is that he was still something like the 3rd youngest forward on the Dogs when he was demoted.

Yet another great talent trashed by the organisation. Couldve accounted to something good but heh...

Remember people around here saying he could play on our 1st line.

Over-hyped prospect.

Should've kept him in Russia.

The Dogs just made a bunch of moves, I'd rather see him sent down the sit so much but we'll see if the Habs cut him lose in the off-season as he is under contract for next year but it might be better for both sides if he moves on.

He just turned 22 the other day so there's still time for him but not sure that will be with us.

Only 6 games left for the Wheeling Nailers and they are out of the playoff race...

The only problem here was that he was over-hyped when no one knew anything about him. He was supposed to be Ovechkin-lite.

LOL if he was a "great talent" he'd be scoring tonnes of goals somewhere not falling off the earth. Plenty of undrafted/overlooked/unscouted guys make it to NHL eventually, cuz if their talent is legit NHL they tear up lower leagues.

Some people have really weird ideas about what it takes to get to the NHL, and how management can "potentially" mould any sort of prospect into a NHLer with proper handholding. 100% up to players to push themselves there, and if there's a setback to overcome it by working harder and continuing to plug away and distinguish oneself.

Still think he should have gone to the CHL at 18.

I think it's stupid to say players develop better when they face tougher opposition. Most players need to be brought up more slowly. Skilled players need to score a lot and gain confidence. This kid was thrown in a men's world at 18 when he wasn't ready.

I was excited that he came over, but in retrospect I think his career would have been better off if he stayed in the KHL for a few years.

Or maybe things would have been different if he went to the CHL.

Either way, he's had plenty of time to make his mark in Hamilton and hasn't done it, so that's on him.
