I hate to see Demers go, but this deal makes sense for us for in some ways. I would strongly consider it.

Would like it as well, but how will your cap handle it? Would we have to retain some?

you won't get Thrower from the habs but definitely
Weber, maybe Pateryn or Mac Bennett

I think the Sharks would be silly to trade Demers for those players. I'm curious is to know why you think differently?

Demers and Talbot are almost a wash. Assuming we trade a combination of Murray, Clowe, and maybe even Boyle (though the Boyle talk I am highly skeptical about), should free up enough cap space to take on Meszaros. It would really depend on what we get back for Clowe. Could work.

Need more than that to part with Demers.

Really? I think Demers holds quite a bit more value and has a much higher upside.

We are definitely on the losing end of the trade, I won't deny that. But our forwards have been downright dreadful this year. We need help and we need to change things up. I think Talbot is a guy that could help us open things up and roll with 3 good lines instead of 2 top heavy lines.

just talking about cap hit. ($1.75m vs $1.25m)

If the Flyers trade him, I can see Montreal pushing to get him, A French Canadian player that improves their bottom 6, played under Therrien here in Pittsburgh, they were interested in him when he was on the market in 2011

Talbot + Mez to St. Louis for Schmaltz + 2nd?

Also, when would Schmaltz be ready to play in the NHL?

Maxime Talbot + Conditional 4th Round Pick 2014

Ben Bishop + Kaspars Daugavins

If Maxime Talbot doesn't resign they get a 2nd Round Pick in the 2014 draft.

Is Mez even healthy? Whats his contract like?

Schmaltz is probably at least a couple years away

We will see.

2nd + 3rd or 2nd + 4th?

If possible, I think the Flyers would like to move: Meszaros, Briere, possibly Talbot, possibly Coburn, and any of the spare parts not named Gagne.
Realistically? There is no way Talbot returns that sort of value unless some team is dying to get his super cool personality in the locker room.

He is worth a 3rd rounder in my opinion, max. I can't see why teams would be lining up to get four goals for almost two million dollars when the cap is about to go down and his contract has years left on it.

Mez is healthy and he's 4M a year and has one more year after this one.

Talbot has 3 more years on his deal...

This makes no sense.

Having Demers on the back end helping with the breakout would have a bigger effect on our transition game and offense than adding Talbot, IMO.

Once Boyle is gone, Burns and Demers are our only really good puck movers.

Ah okay then just a 4th. I just assumed he was a UFA if they were going to trade him at the deadline. My bad

I'd be fine with going after Talbot, but not for a significant piece like Demers.

The Flyers don't want a mediocre $5.5m forward in exchange for Talbot.
