Sestitio-Gordon/Ebbett-Alberts

Still looks like crap, but at least there is 2 NHL players on at least 3 lines.
they need to work burrows like a donkey and give him as many shifts as possible on any line. he fits with everyone and can score on any line.

You're combining years there a bit, not that it makes it any better. Here's how the '06 and '07 deadlines went:

2006:

2nd for Noronen (this got them Enroth)
2nd for Carney
3rd for Weinrich
4th for Brown.

2007:

2nd and a 4th for Sopel (the 2nd was the Simmonds pick)
2nd for Smolinski

Though I guess you can be little more cavalier with your picks when you're confident that you can unearth gems like White and Ellington.

The prospects are likely the biggest difference. Sens just have way better youngsters than us ... Especially at centre.

Pinizzotto woke up "not feeling well". I hope "not feeling well" means has a injury. Not because i want him to be hurt but the guy cannot miss games for "not feeling well". He has what 3 career games and is going to miss a game for "not feeling well". If "not feeling well" was a reason not to play there would never be a Sunday morning rec. hockey game again. I have seen many a man throw up during the game or in between periods "not feeling well." They still play. "Not feeling well" with a broken back now that i can understand.

Yeah as soon as I finished posting that I went and looked that up. I think it was the back to back awesome deadline moves that merged them together in my mind.

It's amazing our scouts thought White/Ellington were better than Subban, Simmonds, Perron and so many more.

Let's be honest though.

The Sens are using Zibanejad who is thought of as a blue chipper (and he's been benched at times).

They made a good acquisition in getting Turris with certainly helps.

Wiercioch was drafted 5 years ago..we aren't talking about a guy who was recently drafted and is stepping in. He's stepping in when he should be...perhaps even a little later.

The guys they are drawing from like Condra, Greening and Smith are also in their mid-20s (25-27 years old). They are tweener type players on some teams.

Silferberg looks like a gem to me and if the draft were held again there is no way he goes as low as 39th.

In short they are having guys drafted 5+ years ago who have developed professionally and even if not the best players have the experience to contribute on at least a short term basis.

I'm not one to get on AV for development. I think he does a good job in that department. However, I don't like many of his coaching decisions and this is what it comes down to. In the NHL having a roster of tweeners can be competitive if they buy into the system AND the system is the right one for the roster. Don't square peg-round hole things.

I think AV looks at the lineup and says "wow I'm missing my second line so the only way we can win is to play dump and change hockey and hope we bang in a puck or two while the goaltender stands on his head". instead he needs to look and say "well I'm missing the second line which sucks but the guys in our organization have all been developed to play a fast paced, quick puck movement brand of hockey so that is what we are going to continue doing." The first and third period of the Blues game reflects the first game plan and the second period reflects the second game plan.

Still, I don't think we talk about any of this if the goaltending was at all up to par this season which it hasn;t been.

Well if it's something possibly contagious you don't want to expose the rest of an already decimated team. I agree though, "not feeling well" is too vague. "Flu like symptoms" is usually what the spin doctors say in a situation like this.

Eee-Ghads man! That bottom 6 is iffy. Going to need the top 6 to step up big time as well as the D to cover for the bottom 6.

Anyone know what Tanev's status is? Is he ok after taking the puck to what looked to be the head?

Sens also took a dip through the basement in recent years, which is always a big help to the prospect pool. Now it's amazing what they're doing but they're more of an outlier, and are benefiting from having the right guys at the right time and place.

Plus Ottawa is 4-2-4 in their last 10 while we're 4-4-2, so it's not really that big a difference.

if our drafting was better in 2006 and 2007......we would have player fill in as center and winger........how could our blind scout miss these players.....should fire them

Sedin - Sedin - Burrows
Schroeder - Raymond - Jensen
Weise - Lapierre - Hansen
Gordon - Ebbett - Sestito

Even though there is no way it'll happen, that's my line-up if I'm AV in this situation.

why are we replacing Hansen, one of our best ATM for Jensen? He isn't ready for a top 6 role

maybe jensen/schroeder chemistry?

Archibald Lapiere jensen seem more like a NHL line than AHL

But we would be breaking up the chemistry between Hansen and Raymond, would like to see Jensen maybe on the third line and get some second unit PP time, but it's probably best to keep him down

There's no Schroeder - Jensen chemistry right now. They have played a few periods together in their career.
