Yeah. A goalie with no NHL games won't bring too much. But he's obviously got potential. Maybe him getting called up is just a way for us to show him off for a few games. If he does exceptionally well, a team might give big for him.

No way he plays more than 60 minutes (if that).

.... and no way a few games inspires someone to give up big for him.

They're not going to entertain trading him until he's established in the NHL or is a bust, and by that point .... probably 3 or 4 years away ... they'd probably look to move Lehtonen instead assuming he's turned into a quality goalie (sorta of a Vancouver type situation without a terrible contract holding back the veteran's value).

Injury/Illness insurance. Though with Whitney possibly out would they dress him or Vincour?

It'd be awesome to see Chiasson play some minutes (as long as they send him back this weekend).

Would be shocked if he actually played. Probably just in case.

Wouldn't be opposed to see him play over Vincour though.

I have this feeling Fraser will only be moved up in case of injuries. They may be letting him stay in Cedar Park for a playoff run.

Chiasson I see as another of those reward by practice/travelling then send back moves.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if Smith comes back down. He's been shaky the last few games it seems.

Smith has been 'shaky' all season. He clearly needs time in the AHL.

Smith is an interesting case. They've clearly favored him over those others (chiasson, smith, fraser) going back to wasting a year on his elc last season. To me Fraser seems like the most NHL ready of the three. Smith definitely got off to the best production in the AHL so it made sense to call him up first but he seems to have hit a wall in Dallas. All three need to be in Texas for their playoff run.

Is Chiasson even going to make it out to LA in time?

Wouldn't be surprised if he was notified last night. It's only a few hour flight time. Probably get there just in time to sit in the box or dress if someone gets hurt.

Good point though...probably means Vincour is in if Whitney is out.

Very surprised Fraser got overlooked again. Gully must really not like him or something.

What I find strange is everyone wanting Fraser to come up but complain that they're rushing on Oleksiak (maybe even Smith).

Honestly, I don't see a problem with Fraser staying down. If he goes up, where is he going to go? Bottom 6 minutes? Then you face the same problem you have with Reilly Smith.

Let the kid finish out on a high note in the AHL, bring down Smith to get his confidence back, Oleksiak too. Wait til the old guys are finally out in the offseason and get an actual offseason practice/training schedule.

If we're going to basically wipe out this season, no reason to bring guys up just to have them get crushed mentally.

Well I was fine with Oleksiak getting a shot because he was dominating the AHL. But he's shown he's not quite ready for the NHL. He's in that in between stage where he's too good for the AHL and not good enough for the NHL. Basically a 10 game showing to see what he needs to improve on and then the rest of the year in the AHL would be perfect for him.

Fraser meanwhile has shown he can dominate at the AHL level, but we haven't seen what he can do at the NHL level yet. He very well be not ready as well, but unlike Oleksiask, we haven't had the opportunity to see that.

It hurts to watch Oleksiak right now, I know hes young but man is it rough watching him struggle everynight. Smith doesnt look ready either, I hope they send him down.

I wouldn't mind Fraser getting a few more games to show he's truly ready but not at the minutes they would be giving him unless they finally move Morrow or something. Fraser is ready offensively but still needs a bit more work defensively.

I agree Oleksiak isn't truly ready and needs to polish his game more in the AHL.

Another thing is that with the new CBA rules it seems that players have to be on the AHL roster by the NHL Trade deadline to be able to move back and forth for AHL playoffs.

On top of that the AHL is close to done and Texas is big contender. I would like to see Smith and Oleksiak (maybe even Roussel) back down in Cedar Park to make a run for the Calder Cup.

That way I get to watch them one last time before they're all back up in Dallas next season .

So let's say they do send Oleksiak down. Who steps into his spot? Rome's out. LArsen is the ***** of the organization now. That leaves... AHL defenseman.

Sneep, I guess. It really shouldnt matter but it probably does to GMJN and Gulutzan so they probably wont send him down until they are really out of it.

Chiasson is back to Cedar Park. At least the kid got a NHL game check.

Wish they'd send Oleksiak back down, maybe just before the trade deadline so he can get into the AHL playoffs.

He'll probably stay up until Rome is back. They need 7 d on the roster.

Oleksiak goes down. Why wait so late? If they assigned him when they made the Chiasson move, he might have been able to play tonight.
