The contract is the reason Carle signed with TB.

One of the worst contracts in the league. Awful.

Nice pickup by TB. They are making some good moves with their defensive prospects. Sustr-Hedman (not right away/now). Wow two giants

Not even close, look no further than your goalie for instance. And the same contract was being offered by other teams, including Detroit.

So try again.

Remember Gudas and Barberio are in their early 20s as well. Tampa defense shaping up nicely for the near future.

Yzerman says plains for Sustr to join Lightning after the road trip for practices and evaluation. NHL games not guaranteed in contract.

Hopefully we can get him working with Jon Cooper and Rob Zettler for as much time as possible.

I was really hoping the connections would land him in Pittsburgh...but I don't blame him one bit for going for a NHL job right away in Tampa instead of being included in a long list of defensive prospects in Pittsburgh (with no real hope of playing in the NHL this season).

Good for the Bolts. They needed something like this.

Excellent pick up. Essentially a free 2nd or even late first.

The Hedman-Manute Bol pairing will be a force for years to come.

Certainly a lot of rejected dunks are projected.

lol said perfectly. Wonder how long it will be before I consider the "new" teams rivals?

On topic, pleasantly surprised to see Sustr signing here. Used to be for the Lightning that every prospect had to be a hit for the team to succeed. Now with so many up front and back on D it wouldn't be the end of the world if 1 or 2 don't meet their projected potential. There's even a few goalies! It makes it a tad bit easier as a fan to see Lecavalier and St Louis getting older.

Can't blame him though. He would have been hard pressed to put himself in a better situation. Gratz Tampa.

If a guy can sign with any team in the NHL, why would he sign with Tampa?

There was no connections.

He went to the Pittsburgh camp because he could split the cost with 2 other teammates.

Excited too see we got this kid. He seems to have a ton of raw talent, and Tampa's been good at polishing that raw talent in Syracuse. Look at the strides Aulie made in the half season he played there.
Even though our D is crap right now, its looking bright for the future.
Hedman, Gudas, Aulie are all studs, Barberio is looking to be a solid move up next year. Sustr and Koekkoek have talent. Lee and Carle have both underwhelmed (to say the least) this year, but there is a chance they can both get it together. If we can trade Brewer for something decent and add another prospect in the draft, this defense may become formidable... and its going to be needed in the new conferences.

Why not try and get Myers, just get 6 big giants on your Blue line.

No offense would want to step over that line.

Sustr said former UNO players Terry Broadhurst and Jayson Megna, who left the program after last season, and NHL veteran and ex-Maverick star Dan Ellis have been helpful in giving advice about what to look for in an NHL organization.
if that doesn't constitute a connection, then what does? sure, these relationships between prospects are routinely overblown by the fans, yet there's no need to deny that a connection existed.

That's basically how it was for Sustr at UNO

Their blue line was 6'8 (Sustr), 6'6 (Megna), 6'4 (Turgeon), 6'3 (Young), 6'2 (Seeler), 6'2 (Aneloski).

Well he should feel at home in Tampa then With Aulie and Hedman.
Can't wait to see Tampa in a few years (Will be sad to not see St Louis though)

Good signing for Tampa, should at least be a good 3rd pairing shutdown D-man for years to come. Also will be usable on PK situations...
