NYR / Atlanta -- Anyone else excited?

Seems like this COULD be the brewing of a rivalry with the whole Hollweg thing and everything else.

I'd imagine that Exelby is going to be gunning for him. Melenby clocked Hollweg once or twice with some hard *** hits.

Should be fun times this year.

The way the Thrasers' fans jumped all over Hollweg makes me look forward to this even more.

Exelby also had a response to Hollweg's comment to Madison Square Garden Network that Hollweg did not know it was Exelby whom he hit.

"I'm looking forward to not knowing it was him next year," Exelby said.

Comments by Exelby about gunning for Hollywood, also. Seems like this is going to get pretty fun!

That game was def amazing to watch...you knew Hollweg was going to get revenge on Exelby...whom is a pretty big guy, and rubbed him out fairly well i must say. Def think Colton Orr will be in that game for sure. Like you said JP, very excited to see if this rivalry pans out.

I really hope that Hollweg catches him again with another clean hit.

But yeah, Orr needs to be in the line-up in a game like that.

And he definately needs to work on his skating.

as if orr makes the slightest difference

the brewing rivalry would be even better if we had a young stud to match their kovalchuk

Orr will make a Partial difference...as hes really our only "goon" i guess you could say. Hollweg will def go mono e mono with Exelby...but if something turns the game nasty...you will def see Orr out there. I really see this turning nasty though with tempers getting out of hand. Rangers Vs. Islanders...in a smaller dose.

Them's fightin' words by Exelby, also. Hollweg should definately be looking to destroy him early again.

Think you guys are making a mountain out of a mole hill in regards to the Thgrasers-Rangers.......I don;t think the Thrasers will be different then any other team Hollweg smacks.....They will be aware of, look for and talk about Hollweg...Just like their fans....It happended last year with the Thrasers, Devils, Flyers, Canucks, Bruins and other teams...The more ice he gets, the more teams he will antagonize..God, I love having a kid like that!

The only problem is Hollweg is not equipped to duke it ou with heavyweights.....Oh, he will, like he did with Jansenns a few times (and taking a good beating at least once) buit he would be living on the edge...If Orr could skate and play I would thinbk he could be of help for Hollweg a few games, but i have no confidence in the guy..WHo knows, maybe he will justify Renney's faith and surprise me....

It seems like a lot of teams' fans jumped on Hollweg last year. He made quite a name for himself and didn't even play a full season. It's funny to hear stuff like this coming from Atlanta, though, considering all the goon tactics implemented by Hartley last year.

I worry some about the pounding that Hollweg takes. He had a severe concussion a few years ago. But God almighty you gotta love the kids guts. He knows he's a target every night but he still goes out there and just levels people. Good thing he skates as well as he does. Gives him a bit of an edge on the guys trying to hit him.

Yes....makes me think to the "Do the Rangers have the better Hossa brother" thread last year that was started, following the first 5 games of the year. Most of us got a good kick out of it, but there were some people here that could not understand why we were laughing at the validity of such a thread.

Hossa vs. Hossa should be most riveting. Hopefully, it will be a case of one looking at the other one from the seats.

I have to agree. I had actually forgotten about this thing. Exelby vs. Hollweg is not going to incite some type of rivalry amongst the teams. If they play a few times in the play-offs, then a rivalry might ignite, but I wouldn't count on it. The Atlanta games will be two I will be selling without thinking twice about it.

It's the offseason.

We can talk about the Tyutin re-signing or we can talk about something different.

Your choice.

The last games against the Thrashers were VERY nasty games.

That's exactly what I was thinking.

In these shirts: Lundqvist!
In international shirts: Lehtonen!

Talk about whatever you want, I simply commented. I do not see a rivalry with Atlanta becoming much of anything.

When a guy basically says that he's waiting for this day for a whole year than I have to think that you're going to expect something.
