Justin Azevedo

What you think of his chances to play in the NHL next season? Has been his team MVP this season in Finland and made 20+38 in 58 games. Does he have any connection to LA anymore?

Azevedo has the skill to play in the NHL, BUT he just can't stay healthy playing North American hockey. He would put together stretches of being a PPG player in the AHL only to have another injury take him out of the lineup. He'd come back, get back to 100% go on another streak, and get hurt again... Just not a guy that is a good fit playing the North American style, but will and can excel in the more puck possession centric European leagues. His last year here he was the last forward sent to Manchester so he's likely had his long look at making the NHL, at least on the Kings. I think he is a UFA after this season (if he isn't already) so his time with the Kings is likely over.

I would doubt he gets a shot with us he's pretty small at 5'8 for a third or fourth line guy. Maybe else where.

Now if he stood on Kozun's shoulders, they'd have a formidable offense against the likes of Zdeno Chara...

Playoffs 2+3 after 3 games, i really hope he gets his chance next year (if not Kings some other team) because the guy is in wrong league right now.

Still, he's only 5'7''. If he'd have potential to play in NHL, I'm sure Kings would've tried him out during his four seasons in Manchester... Of course I could be wrong, but I think Azevedo's next step will be KHL, not NHL...

See my post back towards the begining of this thread. He may not play small, but when he plays big in a North American style of play his body simply can't take it. He's a perfect player to excel in a more skill based, less physical European league though. He'd likely be out of the lineup more often than he is in the lineup at the NHL level especially playing in the Western conference.

Honestly, he's no Bud Holloway.

Bud Holloway:
2012-13 Skelleftea HC SEL games: 55 Goals: 20 assists: 51
Pts: 71 PM: 36 +/-: 25
(won 2013 SEL reg season scoring title by 11 pts;Led SEL in PO scoring, 2012)

Neither does Garrett Roe.

Who, you ask? Exactly.

Today 3+1=4 when his team Lukko won regular season's winner Jokerit (Kekäläinen's ex-team) in playoffs 5-2. He's a beast. Big guy trapped in a little guy's body. Hopefully he makes it in the NHL. Blue Jackets, maybe?

I've been a huge fan of Azzy's for a long time. His vision on the ice is unreal, and his compete level is off the charts. If he were about 4 inches taller, he'd be a star. I'm glad to hear how well he's doing in Europe. But I don't think he'll ever be an NHL'er.

Lets bump this thread, as thats what it really deserves.

Azevedo's team Lukko started playoffs from seed 10th (its possible because of the miniseries played by teams finishing 7-10th). On quaterfinals they got team Jokerit agains them, which started as the 1st seed and previous employer of current Columbus GM Kekälainen. Shockingly, Lukko won the series 4-2 with Azevedo dominating the whole rink.

His playoffstats so far are 9 games played, 9+7 points and +9. Last years the scoring lead in playoffs has been 16 points, and Azevedo has that much already before the semifinals.

What an absolutely outstanding player he is!

Pretty sure he is not even Kings property anymore.

He is an UFA. Same as Bud Holloway and soon to be Oscar Moller.

Now there's a name I haven't heard in awhile, totally forgot about him.

He might make the NHL one day, but I'm 99% sure it won't be with the Kings.

Azevedo had a decent skill set, but his build wasn't good for the Kings, not to mention there are many prospects that fit the same description as he does throughout the league and even our own depth chart. The Kings have no interest in him, and they won't even have his rights here shortly.
