[QUOTE=OfMiceAndKadri;62152415]Boumeester's cost can be high, I agree, but I'd rather have him and solidify our defence rather than just stocking more and more on our forwards. I'd be willing to work with a package involving Kulemin and a few prospects/picks for Boumeester.

Lupul-Bozaki-Kessel
JVR-Kadri-MacArthur

Phaneuf-Boumeester
Gardiner-Liles

Reimer
Scrivens

boumeester is way too soft and does not have a second gear.
cannot bring his play up to another level when required
watched him for many years, definitely no to boumeester

Would love that. He's rumoured to be asking north of $6m but I think he's probably worth it. Solid UFA tender.

Here's a trade rumour from a Chicago Blackhawks Blogger... John Jaeckel

http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog.php?p...6#.UUxKh1cS3Xk

If we are out of it at the deadline, possibly but I'm not sold on the players being offered and Nonis has said, he is not going to trade, any of the UFA's.

Bozak is a UFA next year but I think Nonis will re-sign him and McClement has proven he is a player we need going forward, so I doubt a deal can be made.

Quote:
So a few backup options are Washington’s Matt Hendricks and Jay McClement or Tyler Bozak of the Maple Leafs.

What would the Hawks give up? Well, Dan Carcillo’s 3 shifts Wednesday night in Anaheim should tell you all you need to know about his potential availability. The Maple Leafs have apparently shown some interest in Michal Frolik and prospect Brandon Pirri.

well everyone wants to trade for statsny his cap hit is 6.6M

Is he really a lot better than Bozak. Hasnt really shown it in the last 3 years
bigger body but doesnt play that way. And the cost of assets to get him will definitely hurt.

If i'm going to spend 6 million - then i would on Mike Smith

Good goalie - something we need
doesnt take assets to get

we score enough just needto keep the puck out of our net

Nonis has his work cut out for him to be able to free up some major cash for off season signings, hopefully the likes of Komi, Grabbo, Lilies, will be traded for more cost effective players/picks. Nonis has to stay away from these types of contracts, which makes me shake my head when I hear posters wanting to acquire Jay Bo, he hasn't EVER won, at any level, this is the type of overpaid player the Leafs need to avoid like the plague.

Well theres 0 chance McClement is going anywhere fr anything the Hawks want to give up. Hes been the backbone of our PK and the reason its bordering on being top 5 in the league. In fact im expecting him to sign an extension well before the end of next season.

And I would say the chances of us taking on Carcillo are about 0 as well.

Just read that. I highly doubt leafs want to add Frolik. Guy has been totally underwhelming. Reclamation project at best, but perhaps they're looking for a replacement for Macarthur for the rest of the season.

Pirri is a decent prospect... playbook on him is very talented and good with the puck, but not as quick as you'd like him to be for a small centre.

Then again, Kadri isn't exactly blazing fast, and he certainly gets by.

TBH if they want to take Grabo for Pirri and a pick, that's ok by me, but the return is a little luke-warm for the likes of Bozak or Gunnar.

McClement isn't going anywhere, not unless it's for simply crazy overpayment which I don't think will happen. He's been one of the Leafs best players this year, too versatile to easily replace IMO.

PS. Nonis has said many things over the last 2 weeks - everything from not wanting to sell pending UFAs, to being both buyers and sellers, and being comfortable moving picks. I wouldn't assume no pending UFAs will be moved.

I agree I don't think there is any deal there and your right Carcillo is not a player I would want on my team.

Frolik or Pirri don't excite me either and I would say no deal.

I dont think pending UFAs will be moved for futures. Maybe for an upgrade as part of a package or swapped for other UFAs (Clowe for Mac etc).

Anyone who reads Hockeybuzz shouldn't. These bloggers make up trades. There not rumors. It's the same as you and I making up trades on here. Mcclement ain't going anywhere. If Bozak goes there those aren't players we'd be targeting. I'd guess a big center prospect like McNeil or a first round pick

I would say 90% of all rumours, are made up trades, by people hearing a little something and then putting their own spin on it, much like we do here.

I don't believe any rumours, until they become fact but I posted the Chicago one, more to illustrate what other team's fans are saying and thinking.

Cant find the tweet but could have sworn i saw one that said Armstrong was at the game last night again! Thats 4 games now, you have to assume theyd be Nonis' first big trading partner. Who are we interested in though?

You are correct. From my understanding we've scouted Chicago, Vancouver, St Louis and Washington heavily.

Usually when a GM takes in a game by himself to scout the player(s) that he's interested in, it usually means a trade is at the final stages of being done.

Hmmm....wonder who could it be that the Leafs are interested in?....(Ian Cole? Patrik Berglund?)

Stay away from any Phoenix goalie. It never turns out well when they go to a different team(Bryz).

Not to mention he was absolutely terrible in Tampa and Dallas.

Would rather work a deal around Loungo and Grabo if possible.

I hope so... this team is in dire need of a shakeup. A key player can really come here and take control of the team IMO. It doesn't have to be a star, but a quality, respected player who's good in the room. Could do wonders stepping into the place of Macarthur, Bozak or Grabo, or on the blue line.
