Thanks for clarifying. That's pretty much the contrary to what was posted in the OP.

And I am happy to hear it. Clowe would be a mistake at his current asking cost (from what I heard it's a late 1st, or a 2nd + an asset).

Habs should give a pick up for John Scott
If they can trade for Clowe it best be on the condition he resigns...if not get him as ufa

I really wonder how someone could conclude the complete opposite

Sometimes we only hear what we REALLY want to hear.

Mods, perhaps a thread title edit would be a good move?

I am definitely in the boat of 'do not want Clowe'. No reason to give up assets for him. There has to be much better targets out there.

I would like us to land Clowe but with not many players available I think it would cost too much.

He also said Bergevin is part of the GMs who aren't too interested in trading for rental players.
He said some GMs are also more cautious because this year there's only 11 games to be played after the deadline, so it can be tough for some to adapt to their new team.

WOW!
Anyone else can confirm this? Long time lurker here, and I've seen this poster jump the gun multiple times before.

Not sure on Clowe this year, I think a player such as Talbot would be a better fit and yes John Scott is another player I'd go for if available and play him when we play the Bruins and Leafs. Steve Ott is another player that I would trade for if ever made available.

Talbot for Weber and a 4th
Ott for Bourque or Ryder and a 3rd

Ryder Plek Gio
BGal DD Patch
Gally Eller Ott
Prust Talbot Moen

Read a couple posts up. It was pretty much confirmed to be the exact opposite of what the OP reported.

I'd prefer we go after Maxime talbot then close, bottom 6 depth bumps one of moen or white into the press box good defensive zone coverage, solid face off man clutch performer hits, I think he would look good down there

Wow didnt realize it was so little. In that case, if you have no intention of signing him after the season then we should on to our picks

Yes, Talbot would be a much better target.

Here is what is said word for word:

LeBrun: ''I don't think Marc Bergevin is keen on the rental thing...I think, if you could get Ryane Clowe and somehow be pretty confident in your ability of signing him that's a different thing...Because I think he's a fabulous fit for Montreal...he's exactly the type of player Bergevin is on the lookout for...if you can get grit that can play with skill players, that's a real sexy fit around this league.''

There was absolutely nothing at all about Bergevin wanting Ryane Clowe specifically. Merely LeBrun's opinion.

I think you squash the most misinformation on HF boards (which is no small feat)

Well done.

Lebrun also said that MTL needs scoring. Lebrun also said Crosby is the kind of player MTL needs

Bergerin is interested in Crosby.

If it's true that the Sharks want a 1st + in return they can keep him and Bergevin can target Clowe this summer!

I think we all know the team is doing well this year and i haven't heard any really out for lunch proposals here.

Clowe could be add for a 2nd for sure and Talbot and Boyle are for sale too if Bergevin wants them he can get them but he's paid to be the gm and i have faith in him so if he considers it's not a good move to trade at the deadline i'm with him.

Me i'd take Clowe and Talbot in place of Moen and White we would add playoffs experience and sandpaper. Clowe would take Lucic on a fight.

Remember Clowe being a playoff beast in the last few years? Talbot being the obscur hero for the pens. Yeah i'll take that please.

We can dream of a stanley cup this year are we nuts?

I'd like Boyle out of New York if available. Try to move Moen if possible especially with 3 years left on his deal

We could stand to gain some size, but I'm not sure Clowe is the answer. If yes, I hope he's dirt cheap.
Once upon a time, Michael Ryder was considered so brutal that he sat in the Press Box watching the Habs lose in the playoffs. Sent packing and became an important piece for the Bruins winning the Cup.

There are countless stories of comeback players. Clowe would not be the make or break impact player in Montreal. He would be an important piece of the puzzle though.

Lucic would shrink in stature a bit and guys like Eller and Gallagher would grow a little taller.

Trade a pick and get him over here.

Sounds more like Talbot than it does Clowe. Yes Clowe is bigger, but Talbot has a long term contract that's very reasonable, proven agitator and scoring touch able to play all 4 lines if need be while being a top PKiller.

I'd rather have Talbot than Clowe, but I'd LOVE Kopecky, even at $3M depending what Fla would want for him, if he's even available. 2 time Cup winning, versatile forward that is big and has a heavy shot.
