Thank you and all the best!

I joined this league back in 1998 and today its time to step down as a GM for Tampa Bay Lightning. I had a great time during the last 15 years and I wish everyone all the best in the future. I will still check the boards from time to time and make sure Tampa Bay wins the cup soon .

Biggest memories? Drafting Daniel Sedin 1st overall back in 99, drafting Alexander Edler, Tobias Enström and Johan Franzén who all could be consider my biggest steals.
Believe it or not but one playoff I was ONE goal from reaching the Cup Finals, that was when I had Hossa on fire in the playoffs. Hossa was my biggest free agent I got when I signed him to a max contracts a few years ago. All draft and trade talk.

What do I regret? I had four first rounders back in 99 and ended up with Sedin and not much else. I should have traded my three other picks to get Henrik, why I didnt do that is a question I will never be able to get the answer to. Other regrets? Signing Pierre Turgeon and Jose Theodore to more money then they deserve.

Biggest question now is who will draft all the MODO players in the future? We have Robert Hägg defenseman who is a first rounder this summer among others.

Once again, thank you for the memories for the past 15 years, all the best in the future and GO Lightnings!

Good luck in the future, Martin! Almost 15 years with one franchise - thats almost in a league with Alex Ferguson

You'll be sorely missed, Martin. Newcomers to the leagues I not realize that your Lifhtning were a very good team for a long, long time - consistently in the playoff picture in the East. Perhaps it's firing that after such a long tenure, a new voice is preparing to lead the club back to prominence

Good luck with whatever challenges you turn your attention to, and have no fear: your boys from Modo will get drafted! (Possibly by meeeee... Okay well not this year.)

Good luck to you, Martin!

One of our league's original GM's. So who's left... Doug, Nick and I?

Man... 15 years in this league. It's been a great "time killer"

Was trying to remember if Drew was an original or not. Thought maybe he came on board in year 2 or 3 but it was so long ago, my memory is a little hazy

Sorry to see you leave Martin. I'll try and do the Lightning franchise proud and I apologize in advance for trading some of the long term Lightning players!

I'm an original as well - though I left after the first season and came back after 2 years away.. Started with Calgary, then Pitt AGM on my return (I convinced Robb to join the league, as an agent only at first right Robb?).. then back to the Flames.

Mike is also an original I think right?

Edit: Wait - wasn't there another Gaffney? Ryan?

Yup I was an agent, I was also BOS GM for a brief period. The Alexeev pick was my brutal draft and I am pretty sure I gave Jason Allison away too.

Ps.... Take care Martin, best wishes and good health to you and your family. Thanks for your contributions to the league.

Yes there was! My brother was the original Bruins GM for a season or two.

Sorry to see you go, Martin. We made some trades back in the late '90's but nothing in recent years. It was always a pleasure dealing with you.

And yes I am the original and only LA Kings GM I helped prepare the league files for season 1.

I guess that means the Kings and Rangers are the only teams to never have a GM change...

I guess I'm the only GM who started out in the HFAHL. That was back in 1998 or 1999. I moved up to become the GM of the HFNHL Avalanche in the summer of 2002 just prior to the draft.

Martin, it is sad to see you go...I still remember the trade of Turgeon and McCabb coming my way but was rejected by Dopp. However, we made quite a number of other trades over the years and it was a real pleasure having you as a GM.

Good Luck
