Hartikainen + Peckham ?

COL will not be in our group next year so it wouldnt matter if Harti becomes a beast down the road.

More than happy with Czech duo of Smid-Hejda as our top pairing.
Bumps J.Schultz down to 3rd pairing where he should be at this point of his career.
and Petry to 2nd pairing where he belongs.
Hejda/Smid top pairing? Who is going to get the puck to the forwards?

If I'm where the Panthers are, I consider it.

And if you're going to try to "Cherry pick" guys as a counter, pick one that actually matches Hartikainen, as in an NHL guy. Geez.

Edit: If you're the Oilers is a 2nd and a 3rd enough for Smid? Because it seemed to be enough for Grossman who's close to Smid. See how things work there?

Different situation, Florida is a team that looks to save money where they can.
So they're going to save money by trading a young power center who is an RFA and therefore a controlled asset... and an FA they signed to the contract he has and is tied for the team lead in goals points... oh and a 2nd rounder who costs no money...

Kuba is the only one of them who would be traded to "save money"... but they will not trade their leading scorer, a pick and a great young C just to dump the one year he has left...

What you are proposing is akin to Oilers wanting to dump N. Schultz's $3.5M... so they trade Paajarvi, Hemsky and a 2nd to do it.

Can we consider the needs of other teams before we make trade proposals please...

Granted the prosposal might not be reality, it's not like we'd have to give 2 1sts, Prv, and Klefbom for those guys.

who has been doing it for the past 5 yrs? You dont need a specialist puck mover on top pairing... Hejda and Smid are good enough to play the toughest minutes and get the play going the other way.

It wasn't the players involved so much as them looking to stock up on youth and picks.

Mathias isn't a great young center either.

Mathias isn't scoring at the NHL.

Edit: and for the sake of Money, Kopecky has 2 more years left at $3M, and he's 30.

I would look at Bergenheim if he ever gets healthy, they'll be looking to dump him I'd assume.

No one, which is part of the reason the team's been the worst in the league over the past five years.

Ya Hejda does not belong on the top pairing either.

Neither guy should really be there. There is a reason why guys like Sedienberg can play top pairing, it's because they have elite partners.

Darren Dreger ‏@DarrenDreger 35s
Rangers place Halpern, Caps place Crabb, Canes place Boychuk, Bolts place Lee on Waivers

Andy Strickland ‏@andystrickland 7m
Sources say #stlblues have traded Matt Dagostini to the #Devils

Two things to note, first look a player that a team signed this summer on waivers. Second Halpern is 56% on the draw and was 58% last year.

You pick up Halpern if you are ST.

If Halpern's available, it's a no-brainer. Defensively responsible centre who's good on the dot and on a one year deal for next to no money.

I can already see the Gene puns.

"Since Jeff's arrival, he's been really Halpern out in the faceoff dot".

If the Oilers pick him up, I guess that means Belanger would be about 98% sure to be dealt, no?

No kidding, makes Belanger easier to move too. Atleast from an Oilers perspective.

Yeah I would say this one is a slam dunk for the Oilers......

Well I guess we could continue to roll with Gags, Horc and Smytty for the rest of the year.....

Get it done Tambo!

Lot of waivers today Halpern is the only somewhat interesting guy
Though there would be no need for Belanger anymore

Sure but they are not going to give up young players and picks for young players and picks... especially not "young players" like Hartikainen Peckham... that is enticing for no NHL team

Matthias has more goals than Paajarvi has points... Matthias as many goals as he has had in any other season but in 30 GP... if Matthias was here we would love him to bits and be demanding 1sts for him... penciling him into our core

That seems like the kind of reasonable deal a team would keep... if the Panthers are dumping any contracts for 2nds and Peckhams it will be less talented or valuable players than Kopecky... he is easily worth a 1st...

It's not even about moving Belanger. With RNH-Gagner on this club we need to make damn sure that the other two guys dressed can win a draw. So if Horcoff or Belanger go down we have a viable replacement.

I want Belanger gone, but I want 3 guys that can win draws or are defensively responsible. So if that means holding onto Belanger a little longer so be it.

Yep except he's not out week-to-week with a groin injury, so we wouldn't have to dress Petrell and Smyth as centres in games where we're two points out of a playoff spot.

As long as he does his job and actually plays hard every game, then it's a good upgrade.

doubt he would be on waivers if he was doing what you stated above.
But with our injuries picking him up should be a no brainer... Just dont expect him to be anything more than Belanger whom everyone here is so eager to get rid of....

4th line centers have very little value, we've seen it. Being on waivers doesn't mean he sucks. Right now I'm better than Belanger, we need a healthy body.
