The only way I am okay with dealing for Luongo is if Grabo is the centerpiece.

NHL teams look to deal

Author: By The Sports Xchange

The trade market is finally starting to heat up. A day after the NHL's 30 GMs sat down in Toronto to discuss the state of the game, the table started to be set for deals with the deadline set for April 3. "There's no shortage of teams trying," said a league executive Thursday afternoon. "Lots of teams are talking, there just aren't many that are willing to throw in the white towel and accept the fact they're not going to make the playoffs. "There are a lot of teams talking. We'll see if it leads to anything." As the Sun reported Tuesday, Senators GM Bryan Murray is looking for a top-6 forward. It's believed San Jose winger Ryane Clowe is on the club's radar screen, but several teams have spoken to the Sharks, including the Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs. Meanwhile, the Senators tried to sign University of Nebraska-Omaha blueliner Andrej Sustr, but ended up being the runners-up to the Tampa Bay Lightning. He accepted a two-year entry-level deal with the Bolts late Thursday night.

ie. Where would Montreal be without Price? A goaltender of that calibre can make a susbtantial difference over the course of a season.
I agree and would spend the capspace on a Price, Lundqvist, Quick or Rinne but that calibar of goalie isn't available and in a trade we'd have to give so many assets.

Out of the available goalies they all come with question marks of some kind.

-Miller has been subpar for a few years, throws his teammates under the bus and is getting near the age goalies start regressing quickly.

-Luongo has a questionable lengthy contract and the trade demands for Vancouver if reported accurately are ridiculous

-Smith will be looking for term and how much of his success is the Phoenix system

-Howard would be a good option but I don't think he's top end goaltender and he'd be looking for term

-Hiller could be available in the summer but he's been badly outplayed by a rookie and has had some health issues in recent seasons. I'd still target him though in the summer because he's only got one year

-Backstrom is getting very old and might quickly fade. He might also try to get term on his last contract. I'd seriously consider signing him if he'd take a 1 or 2 year deal. Ditto Nabokov or Emery (although he isn't to old).

I don't have a problem signing a goalie for a short term this summer but no way do I want this team giving up a lengthy term (4+ years) to any of the UFAs or significant assets for a goalie in a trade (out of who could be available).

I'm down with that, Grabbo's lost his mojo. Trading bad contract for bad contract works for me, especially if Lou can play well for a few years.

I agree. I think we can obtain a clear upgrade in goal based on those parameters.

Trade Grabo to Nashville for a 1st or a 2nd + prospect.

Amnesty Komi in the offseason.

Sign Mike Smith to a 2 or 3 year deal worth 6M per.

This gives Reimer 2/3 years to work on his consistency and shakiness.

Smith and Reimer split games 57-25.... or something like that.

If we sign Smith, Sean Burke (his goalie coach) better be coming with him

Smith isn't signing a 2 year deal. Wishful thinking, but you won't even get his attention without adding at least 2 more years onto that offer.

He'll no to Luongo. Those long term deals are killer.

Grab will get his game back, I don't want to deal him. Bozak I'm okay with dealing away I think.

Market for goalies is dry. If he goes to UFA and Yotes don't bring him back,we could very likely be one of the only teams calling him.

Barely any teams need a goalie.

6M PER for 2 years is what I said.

More money for less term.

I have no idea what the value of Boedker in Phoenix would be, but he is an RFA and would be due a raise and we all know their money situation.

Does something around Boedker for Frattin and Kulemin make any sense? If the concensus is that Boedker is breaking out as a potential 1st line winger then I am undervaluing him, I'm just thinking Kulemin's defensive play is a good fit for Phoenix and Frattin would be a good scoring option for them to replace Boedker to a lesser degree.

Boedker would be nice with Kadri.

He'd be a great 2nd/3rd line option to have but he will be extended by Phoenix.

The New Jersey Devils have acquired winger Matt D'Agostini and a conditional 7th in 2015 from the St. Louis Blues in exchange for a conditional 4th or 5th round pick in 2015, as first reported by Andy Strickland.

This .. I'd love to have him, but the wings are already clogged, it'd probably take a fair bit to get him, and the Yotes will resign
