Well, didn't really want D'Ags myself... Stewart is the Blue I wanted in the off-season too, but his recent play would almost certainly have played himself out of any trade scenarios. I have considerably low expectations at this point, but at least the gears are still turning in the front office.

Not sure if we'll see that top 6 winger we need available to us this deadline, but hopefully we'll have enough coming back from injuries to right this ship for the stretch run.

It's all moot now because of how little Lou paid to get him.
If you play on a teams 3rd/4th line you will most likely have trouble getting a good +/-.

May mean that Poni will be out for longer then expected

yep

D'agostini is probably going to fill in on a bottom line. Not a top 6 guy and shouldn't be expected to be one.

Having seen D'Agostini quite often when he played for the Habs, he reminds me of Poni. A big, strong skater that can't finish on a regular basis.

He'll be perfect in the role Barch won't have come playoff time, meaning he'll eventually play on our 4th line when all is said and done.

I guess this is a good depth move for our 3rd/4th line?

Guess we'll agree to disagree.

In my mind he's like Butler when Butler played well this year, which included some creash crashing and forechecking.

His Hockey News profile says he is weak along the boards and struggles in a bottom six role.

Is O'Neill reliable as a writer? Never heard of him, I just remember how much the Zidlicky deal changed in terms over a two hour span, so I'd rather have one of the main guys (local/national confirm it first)

He's tied with Kovy in that regard.

+/- is not a meaningless stat, but it's not a great stat to live by either.

D'Agostini is much smaller than Ponikarovsky and much faster, but I see some similarities. Not really the same type of player though. Butler is a better comparison, as mentioned.

Official trade is a conditional 4th or 5th in 2015 for D'Agostini and a conditional 7th in 2015

Wich is exactly why we offered to send them a conditional 5th round pick

He`s 6ft tall.

Let`s settle for a compromise, okay?

I think he`s somewhere in between.

More importantly, whether he excels at it or not, he`s used to playing typical checking line hockey while Butler clearly wasn`t.

And that should make me reconsider my view on him?

The positive way of looking at this move is that he fills in for Ponikarovsky, and we're on the verge of acquiring two players (Zubrus and Poni) when they return.

Just a heads up, with a healthy roster, CBGB is now our 4th line. Lou has quietly made a bunch of moves to make our forward group very deep when healthy. Still lack some top line talent, but depth is just as if not more important in the playoffs.

Lou is doing well this year.

He's day to day. He's coming back sooner than later IMO. A la Loktionov, 3 or 4 games.

I wasn't comparing the players in terms of weight and height... I was just saying that they have solid tools but can't be counted on a day to day basis to deliver the goods... meaning he can serve as a band-aid for the moment on our top line but will eventually be shifted to the bottom 6 sooner rather then later.

With the way Pete makes lines he could be playing with anyone. Our team seems to operate where each line besides the 4th plays a bunch and Kovy gets double shifted.

ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today the club has acquired a conditional fourth or fifth round draft pick in 2015 from New Jersey in exchange for forward Matt D’Agostini and a conditional seventh round draft pick in 2015.

Let me quote myself since you didn't read my other post:

Way to jump to conclusions. I was weighing +/- against production when I said it was a factor. Kovy obviously produces far more than D'Agostini.

It's all moot now because of how little Lou paid to get him.

My initial post was before I read what was going back to STL.
