I did think that at one point... three years ago.

Not jealous of the Ottawa Senators. Ever.
Well, they lost tonight and a match-up against the Bruins is about as close to the Western Conference as the East gets so you may be right.

Toronto is sliding too. I love it. Couldn't even beat Buffalo tonight. Sabres make us look good. Real good. Sabres would hardly ever win a game in WC.

Other strange news is Winnipeg getting kicked in the Junk by the Washington Capitals. Winnipeg was in 3rd place in east, Capitals searching for relegation..

No rhyme or reason to any results in the East. Its a random results generator, don't bet at home.

Could be just Montreal in the playoffs if the cards fall right.

I think you're wrong there. Gonchar has picked up right where Karlsson left off, there is fundamentally sound about the coaching of their breakout. Wish we could see J Schultz impact every game in such a manner.

The only thing I don't like about Ottawa is that their fans seem to believe that they are the poster child of a successful rebuild because their GM said that's what he was doing. Hell, even some oilers fans often use them as a measuring stick. 1 season at the bottom because all the vets crapped the bed simultaneously and trade some spare parts at the trade deadline is NOT rebuilding, it's just being a seller. They have the exact same core since the Heatley trade. While we have 5/6 of our top-6 as recent draft picks ad under 22yo.

Losing Suter has hurt them a lot. Rinne has been excellent at times this year, but once he makes a mistake and there is no one there to help he seems to lose confidence and game over.

I think it's also blatantly obvious this season too that Suter was the glue of that trio. A lot of people always thought Weber was the better player than Suter but yeah both Weber and Rinne look last this season. I'd still take a guy like Weber but that contract of his is going to be attrocious if this is all he's got to give.

Weber looked lost at times in seasons past when Suter was out with injury as well.
Suter meanwhile is doing great in Minny. Glad we only have to play them twice next season.

so looks like CP has gone into full 'Drive for 30th' mode, which is quite amusing considering the flack they gave all Oiler fans for cheering for last place.

What one should consider is that Ottawa is not poised to get better. This is a team with a lot of trouble scoring goals right now. Alfreddson is 40, Gonchar 38, Neil 33, Spezza 30, Michalek 28.

Who's replacing this offence which is even now sputtering?(yes I know Spezza is injured but anyway)

Could you imagine a club where Kyle Turris is your best forward?

Defensively this team is solid but man they're going to be worse than Nashville bad when it comes to offence.

Nasvhille fans would often say that Suter was better than Weber, but not many people took them seriously because, OMG WEBER HITS PEOPLE!

CGY doing what they always do. Overwork Kipper. He is playing again today. These guys have not got a back up goalie for what? 10 years?

Kipper is having an atrocious year as well.

.869 sv pct... that's about as bad as it gets for a starter.

Gotta feel for him a little... so many years holding that team in it and now he's likely done and will never even have a sniff at a Cup again.

I guess helping to deliver Jones/Barkov/MacKinnon/Drouin will be a pretty nice swansong for him.

Columbus is going to town on the Flames. Blue Jackets are a playoff team.

Winnipeg at home losing again to the Caps... same exact score. Deja Vu all over again.

Yep Easter has just sent out a memo and made it official... taking all the F's off the jerseys for the last 20 games of the season.

Clb is a good team, not a team to laugh at. They are building from the blue line out. They also have 3 firsts this year. If they could package 2 1sts for a top 7 draft pick and get a top line elite forward, watch out
