Apparently the shake-up is Craig Smith to the minors on a conditioning stint? As an outsider, this move is pretty baffling, as it says right in the press release that 8 of his 9 points on the season have come in the last 15 games, wouldn't that mean he's playing better?!

Doesn't make much sense does it. He has played fine. He actually tries to produce offense and puts the puck on net. Put him with other good players instead of 8 min a night on the 4th line for goodness sake. He also come into his own om shootouts. Hopefully it's to get him a lot of playing time this weekend while they showcase SK and others for a trade at the deadline.

Nahh, he's just going through the Trotz process, like Erat and Legwand.

Hello Preds fans, Canucks fan here.

I was going through your defensive depth and it appears you guys have a LOT of right handed defensemen, something the Canucks need.

What would it take to get a player like Jon Blum?

Right now I'd say his value isn't the highest it's been. He could probably be had for a 2nd or a similarly struggling young forward (think PRV)

Would a 3rd and prospect do it?
Something like a 3rd and Kevin Connauton for Jon Blum.

that's probably okay value-wise, but it doesn't really make sense to sell low on Blum. Think of him as a value-add throw-in, in a bigger trade.

Ahh yes that's true. I could see you guys packaging Blum and SK for something nicer, but if that doesn't work out, the Canucks would gladly take Blum and his services

Thanks for being civil guys!

I don't think trading him is an easy option considering he signed a 2 mill contract/ year, starting next season. Not sure why Poille rushed this summer to get that deal, but unless he starts putting up some numbers in this short season ( and -11 ) he may not be easy to move.

I don't want to trade Blum unless a) it's part of a bigger package or b) it's for a similar player, but at forward (like paajarvi)

is all this paajarvi talk an actual possibility or is it just wishing and comparing?

Smith will be very hard to trade with that contract unless he gets better. He's still a good prospect and maybe a stint in Milwaukee will get his confidence back and he'll improve. His 2 weeks will be up after the deadline so they can bring him back up without worrying about roster space as he'd have to clear waivers to stay in Milwaukee longer.

Looks like Gill will be back tomorrow which will help our PK. I suspect we'll go with 7 D to ease Gill back in the lineup and see if he improves our 3rd pairing with Ellis.

Hornqvist was skating with the team today as well which is good news.

To my knowledge Blum and PRV are at the same stage in their career they are both talented but can't quite crack the roster full time. I think it' be a fair deal.

A month ago, maybe, but paajarvi is on fire, last I saw.

I'd do Blum for MPS.
