Went today.

Very long practice. Good tempo and energy.

Lots of 2 on 2, 3 on 2, transition out of your zone, battle in front of the net, trying to create tips and rebounds type drills. Before I arrived they were working on the PP.

Subban spent a lot of time talking with Daigneault after various drills, no doubt trying to learn the details of the system.

Pacioretty was probably taking part in half the drills I would say.

Funniest part was after the drills were over. The whole team was on 1 end of the ice, the goal was to score in the empty net at the other end of the ice. The whole team had to skate the whole length of the ice until a player succeeded. They kept missing the net, lol. Then Therrien tried it and hit the net, which meant the team having to skate a few times up and down the ice. Finally, Bourque ended the madness and hit the empty net at the other end.

Subban, Weber, Diaz and Emelin spent about 10 minutes just shooting pucks from the blueline at an empty net.

Galchenyuk, Gallagher, Subban and Weber stayed on the ice long after the rest of the team had gone. The Gally's then picked up the pucks.

Off the ice:

Marinaro was doing his show from there, taking up valuable seating for the fans right in the center of the rink. There's a media pressbox for a reason, Tony.

Anna Galchenyuk was there watching.

Best part of the report

During the 3 vs 2, who was skating with Moen and Armstrong: Blunden or White?

Subban, Weber, Diaz and Emelin => PP point men => no more Bouillon on the PP and Kaberle out... imo! I think Emelin can do a good job on the point.

Almost forgot... thanks for the update.

White.

Blunden would rotate in and out on various lines. Ditto for Max.

Bouillon was skating with Subban on the PP drills according to journalists tweets, so I doubt it. I think the part I saw was just to work on accuracy.

There is two big obsessions on this board :

That Cole is a top two line center;

That Emelin can have some PP time.

An obsession? I can't argue with that... I mean I am taking freakin' time to write on a hockey board!

I am a fan of Bouillon but I don't like him (he is good at sneaking in the slot though) on the point; hence me wishing for an alternative. Right now, assuming Kaberle is out, I think the best option is Emelin.

EDIT:

You really don't know this board if you think we've been clamoring for Cole to be tried at center.

I know I’m sick of hearing that too, it’s about time someone called everybody out on it! Good work!

Hey do you guys hate me so much that you don't invite me to these secret threads where you're obsessing about Cole at centre?

Oh wait I know what happened. You typed Cole but you meant Budaj. Yeah I'd like to see Budaj as a top two centerman.

Or did you mean Eller?

This could've been really fun and you just wrecked it, that's why you're never invited.

Cole is obviously a top two line center, deal with it.

Well, he is a Habs fan so I thought I'd cut him some slack but if he was a Canadiens fan - no way. I would have him twisting in the wind.

Beaucoup d'exercices à 4 contre 4 aujourd'hui. / Habs working on a lot of 4-on-4 today.

Good to know. Our 4 on 4 play has been very bad and must be improved.

Went to today's optional (did not know it would be only an optional before leaving the house ):

- The 4 rookies, Subban, Weber, Kaberle, Moen and Budaj were out there. They mostly did 3 on 3 drills, with the forwards vs the defencemen.

- Tinordi and Galchenyuk at 1 point where like 1 or 2 steps away from fighting after dishing out some crosschecks on each other. The heated Sarnia-London rivalry on display, I guess.

- Gallagher and Dumont were also trying to agitate/annoy Tinordi a few times. Pretty funny considering the size difference. Lots of signs that this is a team having a lot of fun right now, lots of chirps, laughs, celebrations, etc.

- We all know this, but Subban is just ridiculously talented. He was owning the 3 on 3 drills. Galchenyuk also made some savvy passes.

- Kaberle scored a beautiful shootout goal on Budaj.

- Weber looked healthy and eager to play.

- Funny moment at the end, the 3 rookie forwards picked up the pucks on their side of the ice (they were working with Budaj and Pierre Groulx) and put them in the bucket, then left the ice surface. That left Tinordi to pick up the pucks on the other side where the defencemen had just finished ''hitting the net from the blueline'' drills with JJ Daigneault. About 1 minute after leaving, the 3 rookies came back to help Tinordi out. Seemed like they got told to get back out there by someone. In case people don't know, it's tradition that the rookies pick up the pucks as practice ends.

- Talked with Anna Galchenyuk as I was leaving. Introduced myself, shook her hand, then asked her if she's at every practice: ''Yeah, but sometimes I dump him off and go elsewhere'' to which I answered: ''So you are the driver, eh?'' Her answer: ''Yes.'' 20 seconds I may never forget, she was pretty cool and didn't seem annoyed I was asking her fairly useless questions.

Very positive to see Kaberle out there when the team has pretty much written him off. Good on him.
