You won't hear an arguement from me there. Guy's really lost a step.

That's one place where we really can upgrade.

Craig Button just said Habs should be going after Tomas Kopecky from Florida. Buddy is 6'3' / 203 lbs. Any thoughts?

one year with 42 points and that was playing with toews and hossa, makes 3 million, can't fight...i think somebody on here said he's big but doesnt use his size.....sounds like blunden...no thanks......he won 2 cups but if u look at his numbers on wiki..he was never really a big part of either of them......i'd like a guy like talbot or a real mean son of a ***** if we're gonna add something. or perhaps a faceoff man

3M is too much, and who would he replace on the top 3 lines?

Save the money for Clarkson.

True.....but he didn't play a game in 2008 playoffs with detroit, and i did watch alot of the blackhawks 2010 run....there was nothing that wowed me and he was actually a healthy scratch for the entire sanjose series.

Read my last 19 posts about getting Kopecky...

Love the guy and he's obviously very familiar with Bergevin and the style of play Habs want to play. I think he'd be a great fit on the Habs.

Habs got Bourque, Prust and (Hopefully) Diaz coming in for free.

If Tinordi is a quick study, then the team is set for the PO.

... unless a true warrior vet frees up cheap.

Kopecky? Don't like the cap hit and term for a guy that doesn't really address a specific need for the Habs.

To those saying Clowe and Murray, I don't think either would be particularly good fits in Montreal. Both upcoming UFA's, who are on the downsides of their careers, plus are extremely slow. Not sure I understand the interest. 2-3 years ago, hell yes. Now? Meh..

Murray got beat so bad the other night, the guy has been bad for 2-3 years now. As for Clowe the asking price if rumors are true is a 1st +. Please stay the hell away MB, please!

Clowe's a UFA this summer, right? If he is, I don't really worry about Bergevin going after him if MB is serious about not giving away young guys to go after guys who will be gone in the summer.

I know that by posting this i might not face a lot of favorable answers but what about John Scott ? I mean the guy won't cost much and he addresses our "lack" of toughness on D. Scott for a 5 or 6th round ?

Not the 5th round. We are getting lucky with the 5th round.

I also like this idea...cheaper effective players that add size and grit... too many people think we should just sign Clarkson after the season but he will want $5M per for 5 years...is it really worth spending that much...I think it is more important to find low cost grinders for 3/4 lines and spend $$ on scoring for top lines..

Habs need defense more than they need a HW or Clowe. Losing Diaz shows how thin the defensive depth is imo.

Eklund: "Fans of the Montreal Canadians will have their most enjoyable trade deadline in years," a well-connected source in Montreal texted me, "The Habs are seeing an opportunity and not holding back. They will be very very aggressive...at least that's how it looks now...and they could be in on a very big rental as well. "

eklund isn't very reliable.....goin after a "very big rental" would go against everything MB is trying to do here.....sounds like hes implying iginla and that would just be nuts
