Followed by something like, "He's an okay prospect but nothing special." That's been my assessment of him, and what I've seen pretty much every other poster say.

I've only seen him play a couple of times this year. Last year, I watched him a lot more. I didn't see anything in my brief viewings that looked too different from years past. Am I wrong? Possibly, I've been wrong countless times before. I'm just tempering my expectations. People thought Nigel Dawes was going to be a big time sniper at the professional level. Evgeny Grachev was a future star. Hell, even your boy JAM was going to be an NHL player this year! And he can't even crack a Columbus offense that's somehow even worse than ours.

I'm glad you like St. Croix. I think he's a decent prospect. Just keep things in perspective. He has some real flaws in his game, even with the improvements made this season. Should we only lavish praise on our prospects? That's doing no one any good.
What do you think his potential is? NHL/AHL, top 6, top 9?

You just very rarely see that kind of big picture reporting -- unless it's something that's rereported after having talked with an agent/GM or something.

Skjei isn't playing tonight. I'm not sure why.

Don't they have a bye this week in that ridiculous playoff format?

No, St. Cloud State University had the bye and already played today. Minnesota is playing right now.

Oil Kings up 5-0 at the end of the first.

Michael St. Croix has 2 assists in his 2012-13 playoff debut. (thus far)

MSC scores a goal to start the second. He has 3 points and +3 this game already.

I definitely think he has top six potential. He's creative, sees the ice well and is a good distributor of the puck. He's top six or bust, though, and he has a high likelihood of busting.

You had me until that last part.
Well, we shall see.
Let me say this, if Lindberg and Miller pan out and Nieves keeps progressing, Rangers can afford to wait him out.
I am willing to be patient until he hits his upside, it would be worth it. If he doesn't pan out, he was still just a 4th rd pick.

Brady Skjei was a healthy scratch. Minnesota has defenseman playing at forward. The roster has too much defenseman. One more loss and Minnesota's season is over. Their next game will be in the first round of the NCAA tournament next Friday or Saturday. All of their D were bad tonight. Good.

Go Michigan. Michigan and Miami tomorrow at 4:30pm. Notre Dame-Ohio State in the first game. CCHA championship game is Sunday afternoon at 2pm. Selection show at 9pm on Sunday night. ESPNU.

I respect your opinion, but the WHL people I have talked to don't think this is the case at all. Obviously, a lot of work to do on his game but this isn't a Mats Zuccarello. He could become a 3rd line center.

Yeah, Stepan is already a quality second line center and between Miller, Lindberg, Nieves and Jean, we should have our 3 and 4 line centers covered. What's outstanding is a quality first line center who can get 65 points per season.

The Rangers should take a few swings at these high-risk centers and hope we can get one on the cheap. That said, many have argued that MSC may wind up being a RW at the NHL level.

I really hope Skjei's season goes on. He's not ready for the AHL yet, so if Minnie gets eliminated, his season is over. I wish they would allow these kids to play in the ECHL, where he might be able to handle limited minutes per game given his physical size, but they simply don't do that.

Help could be on the way Fast for the Rangers, whose inability to score is suffocating the team’s chances of qualifying for the playoffs.

Informed sources have told The Post 21-year-old right wing Jesper Fast, the club’s sixth-round selection in the 2010 Entry Draft, is awaiting release from the Swedish Ice Hockey Association and could join the Blueshirts by the middle of next week.

Fast, whose HV 71 club was eliminated from the first round of the Swedish Elite League playoffs on Thursday, is a prime candidate to play for Team Sweden in the World Championships and thus must be granted permission by the authorities in order to join the Rangers.

Fasth can't get here Fast enough. The Rangers need a serious infusion of speed and skill. Let Fasth gain some experience by coming over to North America this season. No one expects him to be a savior. Get a taste of the NHL. Train hard in the summer. Come to camp next fall ready to earn a spot.

If Jesper hits broadway successfully, that will be the third swede on the rangers past round five.

I haven't seen him since the WJC where he scored ont he U.S., but I do remember liking his work rate, even if he was very slight.

It'd be a huge disappointment if he only got 3rd line minutes as a 3rd line Center.

The Gopher's have said numerous times that they want this years Freshman to stay as long as they can. They specifically brought in players who were gonna commit to the program, something they've had trouble with the last few seasons.

Skjei has alot of work to do, no rush to get him in NY, he'll be fine in Minny.

I said it when he was acquired, the kid has offense in him. I think he is going to be a gem.
