It's a 'gut feeling', means nothing really. Just figure that Bergevin would want to reunite Staz with Maxpac. While the vast majority of hfboards fans seem oblivious to how underwhelming Stastny has been with the Avs compared to when he's playing with guys like Maxpac and Bobby Ryan at the World Championships for the past 2 years, I'm quite certain that GMs like Bergevin are not.
Just for fun? Let's make it a blockbuster then! :
Elliott,RD [currently being showcased?]
Tinordi,LD [currently being showcased?]
I found the timing with the Elliott call-up to be a little surprising especially considering that SoB had actually been one of our better D-men, that's not saying much, I know. While it could also just be Sacco playing head games, very likely, it could also be a showcasing kind of situation.
Anyways, my actual preference is to hold on to Staz and see how everything shakes out after this season and go from there.
I know it was your gut feeling only , but that's usually better than a lot of journalists from over here .
As for the trade , i'm still not sold on Eller but your trade looks fine , i would be temping to say yes to it . I know that the Habs are really high on Tinordi and for good reason, he showed a lot of progress this year . I believe that he will will make the roster next year , right out of traning camp .
Stastny hasn't looked like a 1b center for a few years now and he sure as hell doesn't look like anyone worthy of 5.5-6M. If anything, he's worth closer to what Bozak would be looking at. He's a #2 center at best at this point.
Easy there mister over reaction. Even during the worst season of his career our #2 C at best, Paul Stastny, was a top 30 scorer for centers while bringing a strong two way game and faceoff percentage.
At this point, for the Colorado Avalanche, that is debatable. We aren't getting much out of Stastny right now, I think he needs a change of scenery. I think we would get, at minimum, the same production out of Bozak.
In saying this, I doubt TO fans think that would be a very good deal.
Except even in his best season, playing next to a marvelous goal scorer, Kessel, in a wide open system, Bozak still couldn't match the production staz had under sacco playing much of the season with David Jones, Kobasew, Lindstrom and similar crap. So what makes you think going to a worse environment would get Bozak to produce more than he ever has before?
Guys, would you do this:
Noesen + Bishop + 2013 1st + Methot + Michalek for Landeskog?
No way. Landeskog is untouchable. We wouldn't have named him captain if we had any thought of trading him. Basically there are 3 players on the Avs I view as untouchable; Landeskog, Duchene and Varlamov.
Pretty much could craft a trade based around any player on our roster not mentioned above.
I know coaches coach and GMs gm, but if Avs were looking to move Stastny they aren't doing much to pump up his value.
I remember the good ole' days when coaches used to GM and make trades and then would end up getting traded for 1st round picks.

The real question is, does Parshin & Holos count against the 50 player limit?
Parishin with the Avs is in the same boat as Perezhogin with the Habs and as someone on the Habs board explained it a while ago Parishin/Perez don't count against our contract totals.
Alright thanks. Because how I read it was, if they wanted to come back to the NHL the only team he could back to is Colorado, except if we decided relinquish their rights or trade them. Actually while writing this I realize, wouldn't they have to go through waivers first???????
I just didn't know if they count against the player limit.
