But HNIC is by far the best hockey broadcast there is (in North America): if they could get Chris Cuthbert and Ray Ferraro to call the games it would be even better
As much as I enjoy TSN and their vigilant coverage of the NHL and hockey in general they just can't compare. HNIC is a staple and its become that because its actually about the game. Its one of the only programs that actually breaks down the play and shows cause and effect of single plays and strategy over the course of the game. Contrast that with Sportsnet and TSN and they try to be the joe blow sports highlight shows that just want to focus on the pretty plays and individual players. If they're not showing us the newest "SICK PLAY!!" over and over then they're on a witch hunt to pick apart and over analyze any play that might be 'questionable' or spewing the latest trade 'rumours'. I actually feel anger whenever Sportsnet goes to their intermission and we get 16 minutes of John Shannon and whoever they could find to just sit around and speculate as to who teams could acquire, without any inside information. Pure unfiltered garbage.

CBC's Afterhours gives us the best interviews in hockey. Truly, its the only program that makes players look human instead of ice robots.

Just the pregame montages alone... have you seen some of the monstrosities on the other stations attempting this? Moar Nickelback!

And the best part is Don Cherry. The man is a national tressure. A biggot? Yeah, probably. But the guy is bang on about everything 90% of the time.

Hockey fans around the world marvel at HNIC. Its actually very depressing Ottawa is barely featured this year in any Saturday night games on CBC. Its something I've looked forward to since I was about 12.

TSN and Sportsnet have their positives though. I love That's Hockey 2night with Kouleas. I've been watching him religiously since he was on the score. He brings out the best in guys like Craig Button. Potvin and Brown are great too, but I don't really consider them part of Sportsnet. They're part of the Sens in my mind.

I agree with FolignoQ. HNIC is a sentimental favourite for me, and their analysts live the game. Hrudey is great. Weeks did a great analysis of Anderson's game with props. Cherry talks about the emotional part of the sport. And the hotstove often cuts through rumour and innuendo with straight-up quotes.

I really begrudge the other teams their HNIC exposure this year. Was it more lucrative for the Senators to get Sportset coverage for afternoon games? Did CBC not want to staff a 3rd broadcast crew every Saturday? CBC did seem to force the Senators into afternoon games last year, too.

Do we have only two more Saturday night games this season? Vs TO in 2 weeks and vs Philly to end the regular season? Here's to 4 playoff rounds of Senators coverage.

Lindback suffered an ankle sprain last game I think. So probably Garon.

Went to pub 101 and won 2 box seat tickets with free food and occasional beer (whatever that means)

Not even a sens fan but I'll cheer for them tomorrow, with my Galchenyuk jersey on.

Trade your Galchenyuk jersey in for a Zibanejad one.

Another Saturday game, another work shift that causes me to miss the Saturday game.

Our radio signal at work has also gotten considerably worse in the past month or so, so now I can't even get a clean broadcast.

That feel when Alfie is the only player on the team who can carry the puck into the opponents zone in the last minute with goalie pulled. Please come back soon Gonchar.

Can't feel safe at all with MSL and Stamkos prowling about.

This will not be an easy game. However, I think the Sens power their way to a 5-2 win. One empty netter. Zibby with a three-point night.

I had Spezza sign a sens t-shirt for me a few years ago (idk why) which I still have but i've never worn it...I don't like the sens enough to support them by wearing their jerseys/t-shirts. But I do like hockey enough to go to a free sens game where I'll be offered box seats with free food though, so I'll yell "go sens go" this one night because 1) they're not playing the habs and 2) it wouldn't hurt to show my Ottawa pride either (even though I spent most my life in Montreal, I appreciate Ottawa for its beauty and the great/friendly people I've met in this city since I moved here)

And I'm just wearing my habs jersey to get a kick out of getting weird looks thrown at me

Here's to hoping we all get to see a great game tomo

Free game of the day today on MLB.tv is Blue Jays vs Braves if anyone need something to watch before the game

We usually have high scoring games against Tampa so hoping for the same tonight, Mika will get a Mikatrick.

What's traffic like for afternoon games? If I'm staying downtown, what's the latest could drive out and make it on time? (waiting on a friend to finish an exam... If done early enough would like to get them to their first nhl game)

I'd guess 40 minutes travel and parking and walking into the building.

I think Methot was expected to play. Gonchar to take the pre-game skate and see where he's at I think.
