Yeah, but we traded for Nick because we need a top-9 instead of a top-6 to make up for the fact that we have no first liners. We can afford to give up scoring about as much as all y'all.

The rest is irrelevant noise.
I imagine one of the other blueliners and a 1st or two might potentially also work. However, that's just as unlikely to happen from our end, so really there's not much point in discussing it. Y'all don't want to trade him (as is your prerogative, which I will not begrudge), and we don't want to give up what would be asked for if we tried to force the issue.

...which is entirely predictable. MFoligno is one of those folks who I look at, think "gosh, I'd really like to have him, he's awesome", then absolutely never bring up because there's simply no sane and/or balanced way to make it happen and so trying to discuss it will only end in tears and flamewars.

Might have fought Frattin, I don't remember much other than he fought and he was hitting everything in a blue jersey.

Yep. It was Frattin

That had to have been his most memorable performance, though he packed quite a few fantastic games into that stretch. If one were to go by that game alone though you'd think the kid was going to be a superstar. It was really something, eh?

Did Frattin actually think he had a chance? I know he was sticking up for his teammate which was the thing to do, but it's not like the hit was "dirty" or caused an injury.

with that said - Ehrhoff, Vanek, Miller, Rehr, Pominville, Ott, etc...most of the key players on that roster are in their primes now, and I know Pegula wants to win now, so I could see them doing a move that sends a young piece for an establish player and pick/prospect.
Not necessarily. Pegula wants to build an organization that can sustain success over a long period of time. He's said so outright many times. That has 0% chance of happening if we start dumping young players and prospects to compete now. Which Buffalo clearly isn't doing anyway, or Roy and Gaustad would still be here, and Kassian would've been traded for a player in his prime...or past it.

Picture what you would have to give up to get Tyler Myers, and then add to it.

I agree....the players listed are not at the end of their careers. They can still play for the next 4 years.

Roy's trade was necessary given how last season ended.

Gaustead was going to be a UFA and Buffalo wasnt sure it could make the playoffs...so move him for something, and maybe you could resign him in the offseason...I did not expect such a contract he got from Nashville.

They have 3 young centers. If two of them can replace the skill set of Drury and Brierre Buffalo isnt all that far away from being in the mix.

Last season they went through a period of injuries where Miller was out, 2 of their 3 big D-men (Ehrhoff, Myers, and Regehr) were out , along with Ennis and a few other forwards. Outisde of this from Novemeber-January they played at a winning PCT equal to the best in the eastern confernece. This 20+ game losing skid cost them the playoffs.

Foligno is just like his father; shows up for every game, and leaves it all on the ice. He'll be the captain of the Sabres some day.

As a Sabres fan that is absured. Foligno high end is similar to Hartnell imo where as Myers can become an elite defenceman someday.

Okay I was looking to see what Foligno's value is. Very, very high I see. Forgot who his old man is, so I can see why Marcus is untouchable. Begs another question(quasi-related). When/If Pegula fires Regier, and if he does decide Ron Rolston is not going to be the head coach next season. Think Mike F may be in the running for one of those two slots? I figure he can't do worse than Regier as of late, and Rolston is still an unknown from an outsider's perspective. Also could be good PR to appease Buffalo faithful.

I would trade Foligno for the right price. He's nice to have, but if you think he's untouchable, you're crazy. There are some pretty good offers in here too, IMO. If I could package him for a real impact player, that's how I would move him. Unlikely that he gets traded in a straight up hockey deal.

That's kind of how folks would try to acquire him, though, so there's not much point in debate. Teams tend to react poorly to "you'd have to overpay" type situations.

I would trade Adam, not an NHL player, for pretty much any actual NHL player.

We wouldn't mind doing the same with, say, Teddy Ruth, but there's limits as to what you can get with circumstances like that.

NO Marcus Foligno is not going anywhere. You can have either Stafford ot Pommers. Foligno is a fixture in Buffalo for a long time.

This is all that needs to be said.
Kid's a gamer, a player Buffalo has sorely lacked for a long time, and the kind of player that would be coveted by almost any GM (looks well on his way to becoming a top 6 power forward). Add in how loved Mike Foligno was and his history with the franchise and you have a player that's darn near untouchable.

He's one of those players that's difficult to trade because teams won't want to pay the price that Buffalo would need to let him go. Jay McClement for the Leafs is a similar situation. Not worth the moon, but it would take it.

He's a 3rd liner right now. Only way that's his career projection is you think he's completely done developing, at age 21, as a rookie.
