Welcome Back Jeff! this is the end for Petteri and White??? Dumont sent back???

Our main problems this season.. winning face offs and on the PK.. Halpern will contribute in these 2 areas!

That doesn't help our size problem.
We won't get past a 2nd round if we stay small like that.

Blunden & Noks will finish the season in Hamilton... No point in bringing them with Halpern around.

Halpern is only 6' tall, the only way he could possibly be useful in the playoffs is if he was 2"s taller.

temporary fix to our "injuries issues", doesnt cost anything.

Will more likely be scratched once everyone's healthy upfront.

I like the pick-up, he fixes the faceoff specialist issue. Now we have a more than random chance to win the first faceoff of a PK cleanly and clear the zone right away.

so who's the next guy to come back ? S.Kostitsyn ? HAH

I liked Halpern when he was here so I have no problem whatsoever in him returning to the team

He was pretty solid with the Habs in 10/11. Constantly high 50%s on faceoffs.

My guess:
4th line = Moen - Halpern - Armstrong

White - bench/injured and will miss a couple weeks

Hopefully Dominic Moore is next...he'd be the ideal 4th C.

All this. Needed for playoffs depth. So much better than Blunden too.

He'll get the chance to NOT tip in a shot into his own net in the overtime of a game 7 this time.

Loved Halpern as Hab. Should help our PK and Face-offs, 2 major areas of concern. When Everyone is healthy, the 4th line looks like this:

Prust-Halpern-Moen

That's a VERY good 4th line.

Had no confidence in Blunden. Good and shrewd move by our gm. Not sleeping on the job. Sensing someone is hurt more than we think.

Moore would be great, is he planning on coming back in the NHL soon?

Anyway, I always liked Halpern so I'm happy he is back. Great 4th liner.

and he had one of his best seasons with the canadiens, after his long term with the capitals.

This is hilarious. In Antichambre the other day they were saying that under Bergevin and Therrien we won't see any more dead weights like Halpern and Smolinski.

With everyone healthy, we only have 4 forwards under 6", pretty much similar to every other team, if you look at the average size of forwards Mtl is in the middle of the pack, what brings down the team average is on D. When everyone is healthy, we have 1 dmen at 6'2 and 4 that are 6' and under, smallest D in the league.

Size problem? The move indicates that faceoffs and defensive play are bigger problems than size. It's almost as if MB had told you there isn't any size problem. Specially since they pass on M. Kassian and other size fixing players according to this board

Weird definition of ''dead weight''. IMO, dead weight is a guy who cannot even play his role. Halpern can absolutely play his role.

Can't wait to hear their reaction to this then.

Not sure in what universe is Halpern dead weight. He's a plus defensive player. Even this year for the Rangers, playing on a sacrificial lamb line that always starts in the defensive zone, typically with goons or the currently useless Boyle on his wings, he managed to absorb most possible damage and avoid being outplayed.

He's not quite Moore but Halpern is still the kind of guy who anchors a 4th line nicely.
