Ryan Miller

(Avs fan here who also supports the Lightning)

I was watching the Senators broadcast last night and on Sports Net they were saying that rumors of Ryan Miller being traded was a possibility. Now, I have no idea if that is an actual possibility, but some of the teams being thrown around were the Florida Panthers, Colorado Avalanche (that doesnt make any sense) and the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Would you want Miller? Do you think its a trade that could happen?

I would never say no to Miller coming to Tampa.

It's not that we don't want Miller, but if he isn't performing with a mediocre team in Buffalo, there's not much hope of him helping us much more either. If the season continues as it has, we're in line for a top 5 pick (hopefully top 3) and I wouldn't want Miller to ruin that .

I'd consider trading for Miller in the off-season though, just depends on the asking price. We also have Vasilevski coming up through the system, so Lindback is likely a stop gap until he's ready. However, Lindback has been pretty solid as of late and was unfortunate to pick up an injury last game.

Yup, this season is all but over for us.

If we're going to add/move big pieces it will likely be in the off season.

Don't want him. Will cost too much, isn't playing well and will most likely not resign.
I hope the goalie to Tampa threads stop, it's more frustrating than cable.

If Miller is so great, why would Buffalo trade him to future div. rival?

If Buffalo really wants to trade him to div. rival, what does that tell?

I think he's around top 10 goalie but imo Tampa is more than top 10 goalie away from contending.

Stevie Y has done great job collecting assets, it's not time yet to blow the bank for Miller who may walk after his current contract ends next year.

Stevie seems comfortable going forward with Lindy and waiting other kids to develop. I'm still sure he didn't trade Lindy to give up on him after one shortened season.

I do like reading Canucks fans on this area though. They are almost mad that Stevie is not solving the goalie issue. Yzerman is making the mistake of his life for not upgrading Tampa goalies who can't stop beach ball by trading Connolly, Barberio, Gudas, Panik and 1st for Luongo.

Goes back to the days when Leafs fans got po'd because we wouldn't take Kaberle. How often fans forget that this is all fantasy here....As for Miller, $6.25 Mil is too much for what he brings to the table.

SFY really really does need to address the goal-tending issue. It kills me as a lightning fan who goes out of his way to watch EST games of the lightning to see the same soft goals always getting potted. I think that Lindy will be a good goalie one day and I support the trade to acquire him, however, its pretty evident that a true #1 who is established is what this team desperately needs. Seriously, do you think this team is actually that far away from being a perrenial contender?

I am a nucks/lightning fan that DOES NOT want SFY to clean the cupboards to get a goalie (especially one of the two in Vancouver because both are solid consummate professionals) but one of Kucherov/Nametsnikov/Connelly could and should be used as a centre piece to get one. Especially since its looking like we are getting a high pick in this draft plus the score SFY just had on Defense in the college FA market. With the offensive talent available that will be 4 FWD blue chippers in system and 2-3 Defense blue chippers, a move can be made.

When we already have Stammer/Malone/Conacher/Purcell for the foreseeable future (providing SFY resigns Malone) and Vinny/Marty too. Thats a pretty effing solid top 6.

Making the right moves for a goalie and some more forward depth has us contending.

EDIT: So I'm working this saturday and i cant watch the game right now... But looks like Garon is having a stellar day. $*#@

Has less to do with Garon than it does the Team in front of him. If we had Henrik Lundqvist we'd still be getting destroyed.

VanTampaFan: Yes, I think this team misses more than goalie to win the cup. Toughness, one top4 D at least, 3rd line shutdown C and maybe few more defensive specialists.

And a change in system. The one now isn't cutting it. Either Boucher has to adapt or he's out.

Not that goaltending situation would be good enough for cup but it isn't the only problem or the biggest problem. Stevie doesn't seem to have any rush, I'm sure one of the goalies in system will turn out to be the goalie that is good enough for 16W in postseason.

What do you define as a blue chip prospect? I really don't think we're as deep on "elite-level" prospects as some suggest. I think we have plenty of good prospects who can all contribute at the NHL level (or eventually contribute at the pro level), but Connolly is the only player in our system that strikes me as a blue-chip prospect. Conacher and Killorn are (and will be) great top 6 players, while Namestnikov is struggling to produce in AHL and I fear the same will happen for Kucherov.

We can't afford to trade any of our defensive prospects as it stands right now, since clearly defending and goaltending are serious concerns. We're better off riding out this season and accumulating a high pick than trading for goaltending help that won't take us to the playoffs anyway.

I don't think that's gonna happen. Ruffski and Hollywood Miller didn't exactly see eye to eye.
