I am not really sure any of those are a good basis for determining suspensions.

1. No history just means a player hasn't been disciplined, doesn't mean he isn't dirty or didn't intend to hurt someone.
2. No penalty on the play doesn't mean anything considering some of the horrendous calls the refs have missed and/or made, especially this year.
3. Injury should not play a role in suspensions.

Either way, probably would have been smarter for lupul to keep his mouth shut.

According to Shanahan...they figure shoulder was point of impact and with the right camera angle...head contact was not even made . Still...IMO...he left his feet . IMO he should have been given a game for intent . League should be proactive instead of reactive ...why wait for an injury ?

Did this come out in the media somewhere? Because the main board is continuing to lose its mind over this. They are embarrassing themselves.

http://video.nhl.com/videocenter/con...&cmpid=nhl-twt

"Although we do not believe this was a legal hit, we believe that it doesn’t rise to the level of supplemental discipline. As the video shows, Kopecky turns right before Nash makes contact which contributes to the impact of the hit. Furthermore, Nash does not target Kopecky’s head nor is it the principal point of contact.

Instead, Nash makes initial contact with Kopecky’s shoulder and nameplate and as a result, his arm rises up Kopecky’s back causing him to lose his helmet and fall forward.

In summary:

Kopecky turns right before contact
Kopecky’s head is not targeted nor is it the principal point of contact

Combining these factors, we believe that Rick Nash’s hit on Tomas Kopecky does not rise to the level of supplemental discipline. "

Nash also tucked his elbow in right before contact. If he intended to hurt Kopecky, his elbow would have been out. Shanny didn't mention that, but I think it's important to see that.

Silfverberg getting more and more confidence.

That guy is turning into quite the player and if you have a fantasy hockey spot available grab him.

Lucic isn't any good in a league with no PIMs, that's half his value right there.

Damn, did not see the Caps sneaking up on us. They're only 3 points back. (We have a game on them, but still). They beat us tomorrow and...damn

Kadri was a beast in the first period, created crazy # of scoring chances and broke a ton of plays on the defensive side. He has evolved to an elite player.

Seems like Jersey is having no trouble beating Florida.

Just let Bergeron sneak past him and get to the net. Terrible defensive play.

He's been a huge factor offensively, though. Lot of skill.

Kulemin with a ripper off the post.

Robak's hit looked a lot like Kaleta on Beaver. Although I can't be too upset with a Sestito brother being injured.

He's only offside if he picks up his right foot.
