How about a hypothetical to freshen things up a bit.

The Penguins, Devils, Rangers and Flyers occupy some of the lowest spots in the conference. When checking the scoreboard, are you saying things like "come on Pens, beat Florida and Toronto and Winnipeg etc, even if it results in going on an invigorating Cinderella run for a month and a half and enjoying the excitement of a postseason" while simultaneously "not feeling too bad" about the Flyers disappointing their fans night after night after night?

Obviously I understand some people like to keep the big picture in mind. But remember that the team and the fans still have to actually experience this month+ of losing. It doesn't happen in a vacuum.

I constantly root for the failure of every other team in the league. Even in games with two teams I dislike, I root for the building to implode rather than whoever would give us a boost in the standings.

I'll never root for the Flyers to lose, no matter how it benefits us. However, I will say, that this is a better year than 2007 to be a bad team

Hey we were screwed out of the #1 pick before, maybe the hockey gods will reverse our luck and award us it when we finish 3rd!

Ah who the hell am I kidding.

Here's how I feel, in a short, snappy way: I want the Flyers to win, but I want all of the teams around us in the standings to win much more.

Absolutely rooting for losses at this point. The ends justify the means. 5 teams to pass. We need to finish worst, to get either Mc or Jones.

If I was a tanker, I'd make this my in-lieu-of-playoffs avatar with my favourite draftee as the second image in the .gif. But I'm not, so I'm gonna keep rockin' the soon to be Gagarin Cup winner (if I didn't jinx it just now ).

I hope we can put to rest the moralistic discussion over tanking and embrace our near future as losers.

Seriously, though, this team going on a late season run is the worst-case scenario, not simply because it will screw up what could be a very useful draft pick, but also because it might allow the organization to write off some of the team's weaknesses as a consequence of a series of oddities that came with the shortened season.

Can we just forfeit all points we get from now on?

While the game is on I want us to win, but I also want us to finish as low as possible in the standings!

We need to wrap G, Voracek, Simmonds, and Kimmo in bubble wrap for the rest of the season. Let the young guys play and learn. Briere and Hartnell will help the cause since they haven't done anything all year.
