I'm afraid you're right. The NHL has to do something drastic very soon to curb this, it's becoming more and more frequent and accepted.

Maybe they review game tape, a blatant embellishment gets a fine, a blatant dive gets a suspension. The fines/suspensions increase exponentially with each successive offense.

Dving penalties and publishing lists of known divers clearly is not doing the job.

They can fine/suspend a player even if he's not penalized for anything else. I don't see why this would be an exception.

God I wish he'd just dive out of our roster.

I was watching habs/isles the other day, and aucoin from the isles got a penalty for embellishing. I never knew that was an official penalty in the rulebook.

2 minutes for embellishing.

Although Julien was dead wrong (as usual) on his embellishing analysis, here's his reaction after kunitz took a goalie stick in the chops. This thread wont be complete without it.

Ovechkin has more of a case for the penalty call (although Coburn's stick never actually hits him), but he went full platoon on this one. I found it hilarious and sad at the same time.

Not the first time Adam Burish has dived.

Yes they can.

Agreed. I'm not necessarily a "suspend guys for diving guy," but faking an injury to try and draw a major? On an obvious non-infraction?

Give him 5 games, far as I'm concerned.

I'm not sure if the language is new, but I know the bit about the league being able to fine a player for diving or embellishing even without a minor called in the game has been in the rulebook for a while.

Man, I really hope there is some progress on that list being made to crack down on divers.

These calls weren't even "embellished," it's just 100% disgraceful.

I miss the days when players got hit and couldn't get to their feet fast enough, now there is so much looking around for a ref to draw the call or falling down its pretty embarrassing.

Clowe's the same guy who was seething after Bieksa "picked his spot" in a fight that Marleau instigated, so his analysis is historically less than stellar.

Corey Perry did something similar in the 2007 playoffs I believe. He skated into Chris Chelios from behind and faked getting hit to get an interference call.

I dont think perry has a bad rep for embellishing calls, tho he does give the refs stares and arms out to try and draw calls. Bobby ryan and teemu selanne seem to embellish a lot tho, i think they are pretty underrated in that part of their games.

Adam Burish, already the worst player in the league, remarkably finds away to trend downward. Lol.

Good job, Adam.
